i would suggest to try and experiment with different types of dog food. Maybe she's tired of the food you're giving her. For example, do you eat one type of food a day?

If your pup is losing weight and looks sick, I say run, don't walk to your nearest vet! Would you wait if she was a child? If she's had her shots, then it's probably worms, but you need to have her checked out. The wormer is available from the vet for a modest fee if that's what it is. The stuff you buy in the supermarket's pet aisle is worthless, don't waste your time or money. If she hasn't had her shots, it could be anything. Only a vet can diagnose her. Please, don't delay getting her looked at. If she has worms, and it's this bad, she could die. I'm serious, I've seen it happen. If it's something else, who knows? It doesn't sound good, and I doubt it will "clear up" on it's own. Don't wait for her to get so sick that maybe she can't recover. Make the appt. today! Good luck!

Does she still appear to be happy? Older dogs sometimes lose weight. My late 13 year old Shih-tzu started to lose weight. Her sides started to sink in even though she was eating ok. Vet said it was just old age. Put her to sleep soon after that. She just did not seem happy, she would not play, was almost blind, and had NO quality of life. Take her to the vet to make sure though.

Ok well i suggest that either u find time to take her outside and throw some frisby, or definetly get a fence for her! if u already have a fence, let her out! look i'm not trying to lecture u cuz i'm sure your a nice guy, but if u donh't have time to take care of her, then i suggest giving her to someone u trust. like a family member or someone like that. But mayb i'm just typing this for no reason. U saiad she was old and that might have something to do with it. When dogs get old they tend to slow down a bit. i don't mean mentally but phisiclly. The other reason could be she has a sickness. mayb u should take her to the vet. give her a full check up. this was really long ik and i won't win the 1st prize but i am just trying to b nice. ok i'm done. cya

take her to a vet.
could be worms.
could be depression.
lack of exercise??
spend quality time with your dog. for real.
maybe the vet can give some vitamens or something to make her gain weight.
or like older people, many lose appetite and weight.
my mom went from 220 pounds down to 120.
she died from alsheimers.
spice up your dogs food. canned food, pizza lol.
seriously spend more time with her..get her out of jail.!!
she is 70 years old in human years.
time may be short. love her all u can !!!!

Unexplained weight loss should always be checked by a vet. (Why is this poor dog being condemned to living in a kennel at the age of 10?)

Best Advice...TAKE HER TO THE VET SO YOU KNOW FOR SURE!!!! Go with a professional answer not a yahoo answer. Has she had all shots, etc?
Make sure it's not Parvo...also make sure you spend A LOT of time with her.
I AGREE! HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO YOUR DOG AFTER 10 YEARS!!?? I just re-read the question to see you actually did say Kennel full time!
Damn...that's where most kids need to be! NOT PETS.
AND SHE'S 10!!! SHE'S OLD! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING? THAT'S JUST COLD MAN!
Please bring her back in! PLEASE PLEASE!....YOU HAVE CRUSHED HER!

Have a complete blood panel done and bring in a fresh stool sample, too. The doctor can do a physical and the bloodwork and stool check will be of great information for them and a great start. There are too many possibilities from anything as simple to take care of (worms) to something that could take her life fast.
See a vet ASAP.

aww i dont think i can do that to my Megan she is only 6months old and leaving her on a kennel last 2 weeks because we went for holiday. It broke my heart we didnt even enjoy much our holiday coz i was thinking about her the whole time even though i Literally text the kennel owner twice a day for 2 weeks and she kept telling me Megan is great plays all the time and enjoying the weather, but i think she was a little bit sad as they know that their parents are away (us). She came back a little bit skinny than her usual size I reckon due to stressed and her full bag of nuts came back almost empty and the owner told me she eats all her foods but came back skinny? I am doing the normal routine now so that she gets back to her normal scenery and actions. I love me Megan so much she is our Baby! Please dont do that to your Dog Dogs are precious gifts and they are theraputic, they are the best companion! try to reunite with your dog and take the dog to a vet.Goodluck!

10 years old is a fair age to be giving such a dramatic change in lifestyle. I would say she is pining for company.
See if you can bring her inside some of the time, or spend a lot more time outside with her. She may fade away before your very eyes.

She is probably suffering stress from greiving. If she is used to being inside and now she's never allowed inside to be with her family then her whole life as she knew it has changed. Why did you rob her of her membership in the family by making her adjust to living solely outside? How could you do that to your dog, your best friend of 10 years? I bet she would have never done that to you...
