Adam and Eve were told not to eat of the fruit of that one tree. The serpent came along and told them that they should have it, that God was lieing, and they started to covet it. They ate it and found out God was right. Cain and Abel, Cain got jealous. Why?
David and Bathsheba,, David coveted a woman that belonged to another man.
God is good. He makes people, not all the same, but gives each one something of a variety of things. Appearance, talents, stuff. In 1 Cor , Paul talks about the different members,, saying that, basically, we are not all supposed to be feet, or shoulders, but that the body needs each different member to function as a whole. Sometimes we don't appreciate what we have, and we look and think 'the grass is greener on the other side of the fence'. We tend to be never satisfied, but always wanting more or better.
Did you ever hear the song by Dolly Parton about the coat of many colors that her mother made for her? It is about comeing from a poor family, and her mom made her a coat quilted out of scraps. Now the other kids may have laffed, but she put a positive spin on it, and she wore it proudly.
If we trust God, that what He has provided for us is what is best for us to have, for the moment, then we can look at what other people have and think, "that is very nice, for him (or her), and I'm glad that s/he is fortunate in that" and also think that "God has a special plan for me, that is special just for me, and where I am right now is leading me to that,, and I trust him, and I thank Him in advance for the great things that He has in store for me". Then you will be grateful and appreciate what you have and develop your gifts, and not want what is for someone else.

By learning to appreciate yourself, and finding an environment where you can use your unique qualities.
Forget all the material and physical stuff. They come and go.
Learning to make the best of the things u already have is worth more than having more things, because the knowledge will last more than the stuff.
What they all want is what u already have - the attention of the whole world (or at least every Yahoo user, including me).
People are taking time to respond to your question - no one can take that from u (except your internet service provider).

I guarantee this method to work, because it worked for me. I haven't coveted anything since 1974. Here's what I did . . .
First, steal what you're coveting. I stole a gallon of yellow paint from my employer. I was moving to Tennessee from Michigan, so even if they figured out it was me, I'd be long gone!
Pack up your custom-interior van with everything you own, including the gallon of yellow paint.
Now this part is very important. Lose control on an icy high-speed roadway, for me it was I-70. Be sure to roll the van over twice into a ditch.
By this time all your posessions will be covered with yellow paint and your custom interior is even more customized.
You'll never covet again.
This works!

Wellll, my Mother used to tell us that if we wanted something someone else had, that we had to accept everything they had. So, she would say "do you reeeaaallly want to be that person with their looks and their family and their problems, just to get their car?" Also, she would say, "why be jealous of your classmate, if you're gonna be jealous, aspire to Bill Gates or Oprah, for heaven's sake!" Also, when you feel it coming on, walk away from the situation and get busy with something else. Eventually, you will have victory because you will have fully accepted the intrinsic value of you! Good luck

Be grateful for what you do have is one way! Thank God for everything you have! and mean it. Don't look at what you have not got or what someone else has, but look to what you have been blessed with and learn to appreciate it
Hope this helps
