So why bother with all of the extranious stuff that doesn't effect you? ie, homosexuality, abortion, etc. Worry about what happens in your own back yard and stop trying to bury your trash in mine. Does that seem fair to you, or do you feel moraly superior?

Your right. Christ said we must practice charity. perfect charity is respecting someone else's belief and position. He told us not to judge others, or will be judged. I may not agree with what others do, but I don't tell them unless they want my opinion. Oh yeah we can also perform service willingly.

Apparently you've ran into some strange Christians. Jesus was really more concerned with bringing a bit of heaven here - making life here better. He said to love everyone. He didn't use the word "except." This should make homosexuality a non-issue. Abortion is a little different I think. It does tend to affect the society we live in. For the record, we all live in the same yard. If we all started to realize that, and started taking care of one another, none of these things would be an issue at all. Not that I want to be morally superior, but who does get to be morally superior? Whose morals get to be at the top of the wrung or do we all just do exactly as we please until we go to prison?

I'm not sure what you're really asking or saying here.

Are you implying that Christians get caught up on issues that don't affect them personally?

It is realistic to think that someone they know, or maybe even themselves have had direct contact with the issues you've mentioned.

As Christians, we're supposed to love one another (everyone not just other Christians) above all else. I'm sorry that you obviously have no seen this evident in the lives of Christians you know.

I am personally against homosexuality, but I have a gay cousin so it's complicated. I love him, and want him to be happy. I don't judge him or tell him what he should or should not do - I just pray for him and love him, and am honest about how I feel - I don't harp on him about it though.

I think abortion is wrong as well. I had a friend have an abortion and I still love her and am friends with her. She knows I think it was wrong, but our lives are so much more than opinions.

Just like I have a right to feel this way because this is what I believe, others have the right to say to me "You're a Christian you shouldn't swear" and they are 100% right. I have a problem with a loose tongue and it hurts me to think that I set a bad example, but I am trying to mend my ways.

We accept you or anyone else and your choices, but we have the right to voice our own opinions too - it works both ways. However, God said like I mentioned that loving one another was the greatest commandment.

We may have different belief's but I still love you as a human being and wouldn't treat you unrespectfully despite our differences.

Hey dude, I don't quite understand your question..... The word Christian does mean Christ like, I'm a Christian, trying my best to be Christ like but I fail every day that's where the grace comes in. Superior, hardly... I don't see my self as better than anyone, I just believe in an awesome God! I believe that one should share Gods word but the real hard part is living what you preach. I don't judge anyone, it's not my place to do so. I will share the Word what you do with it is between you and God.

Christ only had one thing to say. "Love thy neighbor as you love thyself" or something to that effect. Trying to live like Christ is easy, but it's hard to distinguish the difference between treating people how YOU want to be treated, and treating people how they treat you back. All that extrenuous stuff is just politics. It's a way for people to say exactly what you're saying.. "Worry about what happens in your own back yard and stop trying to bury your trash in mine."

I don't think that most Christian feel that they are superior over others.

As far as one's own backyard, should we also turn our heads from child porn if it's consensual? What about child prostitution if it's consensual? What about legalizing heroine? Isn't one's own choice?

The fact is that irresponsible behavior affects us all. Why should I have to pay for someone elses abortion through my tax dollars?

Well, as we are supposed to live like Christ, we are not to support things like abortion and homosexuality, though some people to take that to an extremity sometimes.

actually. absolutely the wisest Christian I ever met, defined something to me that i visit by no skill ignore, Being a Christian, isn't about being in the little club. it is no longer meant to be about which team you belong to. Being a Christian, skill being Christ Like. And Jesus might want to by no skill act the way maximum "Christians" do.

Christ like is not a hard chore but only for those who make hard for themselves like unbelievers and backsliders. Homosexuality and abortions a human society issue brought into our governments asking for advice to the American people. People like you want to force the issue. Christians are the majority or sinners therefore we have the last laugh! If homosexuals would kept their trash in the closets than no one would put their say in it. If young children try to abort babies without parental consent then no one would put their 2 cents in it. Christians are morally superior.

Trying to live like Christ is impossible.

I tried to tear fish and bread into enough to feed five thousand men, but failed miserably!
I went to the local synagogue and tried to chat with the rabbis, but they called the cops and had me hauled off.
I sat in a boat and tried to preach to a big crowd, but most of them couldn't hear me.
I got my twelve friends together, but the cops busted us up for "unlawful assembly without a permit."
I went down to the desert to fast for forty days, ... but after only a few days I woke up in the hospital with an intravenous drip in my arm.
And, when I turned the water into wine, the tax board came looking for me, saying I hadn't paid the alcohol tax on my moonshine!

I'm giving up trying to live like Christ. I get the feeling that if I keep on trying, I'll come to a bad end.
