ok this is kind of hard to explain so bear with me. ever since a few months ago my pomeranian randomly stops (occasionally) and starts lifting up his front paws very slowly one by one then it's seems like his legs go out on him and his breathing gets a little shallow and when i try to press on his stomach it is VERY tight. now he is a VERY active dog and all he does is play all day (he's about 6 years old i believe) this goes on for about...2 minutes then he is fine and running around again! can anyone PLEASE tell me what's going on..this only happens every blue moon...

It sounds to me like your little dog is having seizure activity. Lots of seizures do only happen "once in a blue moon" however since a seizure is unstable brain activity, if left untreated they can become very serious and even lead to the death of the dog. You should make an appointment with his veterinarian and have him checked out so that he can be put on anti-seizure medications if he needs them. They are realitively inexpensive and can save his life. Best of luck!!

Take him to the vet. If it is seizures as suspected, the more they have, the lower their tolerance to them. Each seizure leaves a lesion on the brain and it can lead to encephalitis and brain damage.

My guess would be he had distemper. Some dogs develop seizures and require medical management, after infection with distemper virus. Seizures may not occur for several years after apparent recovery.

Sounds like a mini-seizure. Take him to the vet for testing. There is medication that can help him, but you can't get it over the counter.

Could he be having seizures? My dog had a seizure & it sounds similiar, but it was much more obvious (she fell over & her muscles all tensed & she couldn't move). I'd ask the vet about it.

I agree with the other poster. Take your dog to the vet. There could also be some digestion problems (tight tummy) - have you made any changes to his diet?

Good luck.
