I think $150 - $200 a week is good. Keep in mind that this is a 40 hour a week job and it's one of the hardest jobs I've ever had. I think it's fair considering she's the grandmother.

Hello, ohhhh my gosh!! Where do some of the people aswering this question live. I guess if you live in a highly populated area places could charge that much. Anyhow I live in a rural area in the deep south. Child care around here is only $70 a week. My child is fixing to start a private school and the tuition is only $300 a month. I have a friend whose mother keeps her two kids and she pays them $60 a week. She takes her kids over to her house. But now my aunt watches my two cousins kids and they don't pay her anything. I don't think that is right so when she watches my kids and won't take money for it, I buy her something special that she wanted. Up to you though.

I would say around $50-$75 a week would be fair (since she lives with you). I kept my niece from 7:30am to 5:30pm everyday and they paid me $50 a week. If it was my Mom keeping my two kids I would pay her..It is a full time job taking care of kids.. I would pay them something because family is so much better than putting them in daycare.

If she lives with you and you pay all her bills, I would think she would charge you nothing. But ask her what she wants I guess. I think like $50 a week would be good??? Guess it depends on the standard of living where you are, how far $50 will go....

My mother in law only charges me $50 a week for my 2 1/2 and 1 1/2 year olds (they're her grandkids). I also buy all their snacks and diapers and anything else they'll need while over there.

It depends if she needs to buy extra things for the kids. Even though she is the Grandmother that doesn't necessarily mean she shouldn't get paid or have something nice done for her once in a while. Take her out for dinner or invite her over for dinner.
let her know you both appreciate her and what she is doing for you and the children.after all she is taking care of her grandchildren quite a bit .buy her something she needs or will like.

Hello - My mother-in-law watches my son M-F from 9 until about 4 pm and we pay her $1200/month. She commutes about 20 miles each way to come to our house. I've told people what we pay her and they are appalled. But, I've checked and it would cost the same to put him in a day care w/other children. So, I think for the $$, we are getting alot [i.e. one-on-one care, lots of love and fun activities, etc]. Hope this helps.

She shouldn't have to work for free. Thisis a full time job for her. Find out what day care centers in your area cost and pay her that.

You shouldn't have to pay the kids' grandma.

At least three hundred a week. That's only one fifty for each child for this full time job.
