When my grandson was born I didn't want to be called Grandma since his other Grandma was called that. We decided on Nana. On my birthday, mothers day etc he now gives me cards that actually say Nana. I love it

If you have a certian national background check out how they say grandma.
My grandparents are from sweden. My son's two kids call me FarMor which literaly means Far=Father's Mor=mother.
they call their mothers mother MorMor.

Sometimes a child will choose a name for a grandparent cuz they can't pronounce grandma. I have a 11 month old grandson who calle me gee gee. It was so funny one day I was eating lunch and walking with my food to another room. And he was crawling after me and in a very dramatic voice said over and over again gee gee num num gee gee num num gee gee num num (num num to him means food)
Thus his first time he put words together he said gee gee num num. The kid knows what is important

In our family it was the oldest grandchild that named the grandparents. One set of mine were Grann and Paw-paw. I've always been fond of Babushka (sp?)
