You dont do you!

I think you could take it, through the letter box or course, and phone the company or station to confirm that they are the real thing!?!

If they are genuine, thats cool, no probs, if not they will probably have legged it anyway!

Every officer has a warrant number, and every member of Police staff has has an ID number - if you're not sure the person is genuine, ask them to show you their ID card, which will have their photo and their warrant/ID number on it. DON'T call 999, it's for life and death emergencies only, but call your local Police non-emergency number and ask for them to verify the details with you. They may even be able to speak to the person on their radio to confirm where they are while you're on the phone. If the person is genuine, they will normally wait (unless they have to divert to an emergency call whilst you're on the phone). If in doubt, keep them out.

You don't and you would be sensible to check if you are in any doubt. By examining the credentials offered, contacting your local police non emergency number and checking. There could be other giveaway signs like uniform (can also be false) but go with your gut instincts and sense.

you cant. every one of the 43 forces in england & wales have a different format & design. up to a couple of years ago, you could have made a better one with a home compurt. the only difficult bit now is that they usually incorporate a hologram of the force crest

You keep him outside the door, ask for his ID number, name and rank... phone 999 and check him out... in case he is a criminal.

They'll soon tell you...

If he's real... you'll know because
a) he's still in nappies and looks so young
b) he's a bit dim when you try to converse for longer than five seconds:-)
d) he already walked past you and got in

ooops:-)
