To fear death is to believe ourselves to know something that we do not know. We neither know if death is bad nor if heaven is good. We only believe. It's personal perception.

People fear death because there's always that bit of doubt about what's on the other side. Technically, dying isn't much scarier than going through a door...into some unknown place. Maybe there's nothing on the other side. Maybe it sucks, or maybe it's great. Who knows--it's a one-way door. Death is a momentary problem, but you might face an eternity after that. So people fear death because they fear change in general. Heaven is supposed to be a reward for living a good life, so death wouldn't be too bad if you had something good waiting beyond it. But if you've never been dead before, I mean, really dead (not one of those near-death experiences), then there's fear and doubt beyond the life you're used to. Death is just a short span when you're in transition. It probably does suck. But it doesn't last long. So maybe it's irrational to fear it, but we do it anyway because we want to preserve the lives we're used to. And how do you know everybody fears death? Those suicide bombers seem pretty happy to die. I'm not saying they're sane or anything, but not everybody fears death.

The fear of death is all relative.
Some people fear death because they don’t believe in after life and feel like there is too much they didn’t do or have, some people fear it because they believe they have done too many bad things and won’t go to heaven, some people fear it cause they’re afraid that it will be painful.

People who believe in heaven and think that they have worked quit enough to earn it doesn’t fear death they may just fear missing the people they love even for this short time before they meet again.

We fear death for several reasons:
- We don't know what the afterlife is like (uncertainty)
- We are separated from loved ones on earth
- We fear change

Let's put it this way. We have all been told that living on the French Riviera is wonderful (good weather, warm ocean, nice people, good food, wine, parties, etc.). So why are we not all scrambling to get there? Simple, we'd rather be where we are now. Same with heaven.

Being stuck on Yahoo answers for all of eternity with the monkey men asking questions, now that would be hell.
Death saves us from that, so we don't live forever in a fallen state. Death is really a good thing when you are going to heaven. We will miss you when you go, but see you on the other side. Lots of choices
Hot or Cold, up or down, smoking or non smoking, angels or demons

If people didn't have a desire to live, what would keep them on this earth at times, especially with something a tempting as Heaven waiting for them?

God gave us a strong desire to live, and that often registers as fear of death. It's only human. It doesn't in any way negate or lessen the wonder, beauty or joy of heaven.

We fear death because we all want to stay alive on Earth. Heaven is going to be better for us because there will be no pain. Only happiness.

Good & Bad are perceptions of a conditional reality.

(You make a great point.)

The idea is NOT to live here in FEAR of death...... Heaven is nothing to be afraid of. So, be the best version of LOVE you can be while you are tangible "here".
At some point your tangible body will die, but you will not.

Your body is WHAT you are IN, not WHO you ARE.
