No, it is not true. Eggs are good for you. Eggs are really high in cholesterol, so until recently the belief was that because they are high in cholesterol, they will raise a person's cholesterol. New understanding is that your body doesn't absorb most of the cholesterol in food but rather manufactures its own cholesterol. High cholesterol comes from poor regulation of PRODUCTION of cholesterol, not consumed cholesterol (for the vast majority of people). Eggs are actually quite healthy. I eat 6 or more a week and have very good cholesterol levels (low bad cholesterol, high good cholesterol). See the website below for further explanation.

There is some debate over whether or not cholesterol is mostly influenced by your genes vs. your diet. Also... your exercise levels affect it as well... maybe. Anyway, I think it is just the egg yolks that have all of the cholesterol, so you could still eat egg whites and leave out the yolks. Personally, I don't think there's anything to it. Many athletes eat tons of eggs to bulk up their muscles... also I went through a phase where I ate eggs every day and my cholesterol was one of the lowest the doctor had ever seen (below 150). The only thing that was off was my phosphorus levels, which was caused by the eggs... high phosphorus can lead to your bones breaking down and not storing calcium... but things like soda are REALLY high in phosphorus as well and people drink them EVERY day and see little effect on their bones... though in the long term it can have a detrimental effect, again, maybe.

So, I wouldn't worry about the egg thing. Eat as many as you want, and just stay healthy and active, and if you have high cholesterol then it was probably caused by genetics... and you should then stop eating the egg yolks in order not to aggravate that problem.

Well, yes eggs are high in cholestrol and should not be eaten in excess, but this is only really true if you are in your late twenties and approaching 30, at which time you need to watch your cholestrol level - before then, eggs are quite healthy - also when you eat eggs if you eat more than one or a couple try seperating the white from the Yolk - all the cholestrol is in the Yolk and the White is just Pure Whey Protein - So that way you won't have to worry as much (but be sure to have atleast some yolk because it contains essential nutrients - it is afterall the largest known cell and has everything needed to make a new organism - plus the yolk is the only part that contains Biotin which is essential to the body - which is instrumental in your Vitamin B absorption)

Let's just say that 3 eggs contain roughly twice the cholestrol you should be taking in daily - but your age and current cholestrol level have A LOT to do with it - If you're young i.e - Teen to Early 20s, You shouldn't worry too much and just don't over do it. If you are 30+ - You might want to start watching it.

But at 17 - I'm accustomed to eating 4 - 5 Raw Eggs a day and it hasn't bothered me. But my dad who is around 50 and my cousin who is in his 30s have both had to greatly reduce how many eggs they eat (i.e. two or three a week max).

Oh Yes, and Do not eat the eggs raw - although they may be healthier that way as the protein is not destroyed in the cooking process - Eggs are known to be common carriers of the dreaded salmonella (or food poisoning) Which I have suffered from often - and it really sucks - Its actually present on the shell, but easily gets into the egg. But the bacteria is killed when you cook the egg.

Other than that...No other health concerns or warnings that come to mind. If you're eating a well-balanced, varied diet, with everything you need you shouldn't technically have room for excess quantities of eggs.

Don't believe everything you hear. All of us are different, and the way a particular food affects you will be differeent from the way it affects me. Egg yolks have a lot of cholesterol and fat. Some doctors figure that if you have high cholesterol, then any you eat will make it worse. Repeated scientific studies have failed to confirm that, so the main problem with eggs is probably the fat. However, there are also studies that show that eggs from free-range chickens have high levels of omega-3 fats, which improve the ratio of good to bad cholesterol, so they may be goo for you!

Its not how long, its how vigorous. If you work hard and eat right they should slide off. No gaurantee though. A pound is 3,500 calories. Which means that to get a healthy intake of food. You should consume around 500 cals less per day than what you would normally eat. So to take off two pounds, you would need to double that amount=1000 cals. I would suggest preparing your meals before hand.Since food is just as important as excercise. Eating a 1500 cal diet per day. Remember HEALTHY small snacks are alright. Those help your metabolism, Anyway if you eat 500 less than normal and excercise until you lose 500 cals. There goes your one pound per day

Really, only people with noted high cholesterol have to worry about eating eggs. I eat at least 2 eggs a DAY and have normal cholestoral. Go to your doctor and get it checked, and consult him for his opinion.

eggs are healthy for you, you shouldn't eat more than 2 a day maybe 3 times a week...eating eggs every day wont necessarily give you high cholesterol, but it certainly isn't going to help it any. balanced diet, and everything in moderation
