You have nothing to worry about. Cold sores are a virus that can sit in your body for years and then have a break out. Also since it is summer, fresh tomatoes will also cause sores, because of the acidity. Hope I was helpful.

The first question is...how long have you guys been married.
Herpes outbreaks can occur very rarely. Have you asked her about it? Maybe this is a condition that she's had even before you guys were married.
Cold sore is just a nice way to say herpes. And yes, the only way to get it is from someone else.
QUESTION: Are these sores on the inside, if so they could be canker sores or Apthous ulcers?
If not...then be careful because herpes is highly contagious, especially at the time of an outbreak.
FYI: Check the genital area very closely. GOOD LUCK :(

No. No need to be suspicious about your wife. You can get oral herpes easily by drinking out of the same glas with a person who has oral herpes. For example she was with her sister at a barbecue and they used the same glas of lemonade. Her sister has an active herpes so she transferred it to your wife without even knowing it.
A second explanation could be that your wife had oral herpes for a long time without knowing it. Herpes can sleep for years in nerv cells without making any trouble or symptoms and then when the immune status of a person changes the virus comes to the surface. Mostly lips are affected. Most times it's just a flu that causes the virus to come back.
You see, nothing to worry about. :o)

Nope, you can get it as an infant when an aunt kisses you. Something can trigger an outbreak even years later. There is no cure but there is treatment. Zovarax is for oral herpes and believe me your wife's out break should in no way make you suspicious. It is like getting a cold...it is a virus.

Yes, but once you have it, you have it for life. Outbreaks occur only when the situation is ideal for an outbreak, and years can pass between outbreaks. What may seem to be a recent infection might well be an outbreak from a long dormant infection.
And there are a myriad of ways to contract the herpes simplex virus that don't involve intimate contact, so relax.

No it is not true. You can get it many ways. 90% of people have it, even if they don't know it. It goes dorment until something triggers the outbreak, then you see the sores. Besides cold sores, or oral herpes is not the same thing as genital herpes.

Not true at all. Herpes Simplex (oral) is caused from a virus that lives in your body. A breakout can be brought on by a lot of things. She may have had the virus in her system for years. Genital herpes, on the other hand, is caused by sexual contact with someone who has it. I hope this helps.

Several kids I grew up with had outbreaks of coldsores. No one accused them of "getting oral herpes". The virus is quite prevalent and lives in the dormant state in the dorsal root ganglia of the nerves. Stress or depressed immune system can let them activate.
If you have no other reason to suspect her of the dreaded infidelity, then this will not qualify.

Could be she drank after someone else or shared a bite of food...or something of that nature...doesn't have to be lip to lip or genitals to lips transfer...
Back in the 1980's there was a nightclub in the town where I lived that made Paul Harvey's radio show as being "the herpes capital of the US" because they didn't clean their glassware well...
When I go to a restaurant or bar and get a drink, I always use a straw...

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.
