Jesus says (Matthew 7:21) "Not every one that saith Lord, Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." Jesus says you have to do his Father's will to get to heaven but so many Christians say that all you have to do is accept Jesus Christ as your Savior.

I don't understand the arguments of the people who say I am taking this scripture out of context. Do you people really believe that obeying the commandments that God has given us does not fall under doing the will of the Father?

you are right....just accepting Christ as your personal Savior is not enough....you have to live according to the will of God and serve Him....you will make mistakes and sin because we still have the sin nature, but it is your job to repent thereof►◄●►

First off, you can tell the Catholic answers because they usually start with "Bingo!" The great thing about Christian religions is that each one chooses which parts of the scriptures to interpret literally, which parts to interpret figuratively, and which parts to ignore. Sadly for your argument, John 3:16 seems to trump Matthew 7:21.

I, personally would like to see a religion give some cred to the "Song of Songs" which expresses the yearning for God in a carnal way. No one seems to take that scripture very seriously, however. Chapter 2 verse 2, for instance, "As an apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among young men, With great delight I sat in his shadow, and his fruit was sweet to my taste." That one never seems to get read in church. You think Solomon would have had a little more clout.

The problem in which you are having is the fact you are not looking to God for an interpretation.

Lets take this in context.

Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven"
The repeating of the word Lord tells us that it is being expressed in astonishment as if to say "are we to be disowned?"

"but he who does the Will of My Father which is in Heaven."

Look to verse 24 to see what the will of the Father is...

Matthew: 7:24 Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of Mine and does them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.

The rock is obviously Jesus Christ and when you build upon your belief in Jesus Christ and the foundation of the cross (cross reference Gal 1:8-9) that is when you see the Gates of Heaven because you are following in the will of God... which is accepting Jesus Christ.

All have been taken from the KJV therefore if you want look for a another translation if you wish.

**Why do so many Christians not believe Jesus?

Well, i think things become a little unbelievable when the
sayings and such become fantastical and nonsensical.

I do not think it is possible to be a Christian and not believe
Jesus. The many part is kind of unbelievable too.

In reference to context, things must of necessity at times be used and or ignored out of context.
All of the commandments carried with it a penalty, most of the times it was death, mostly by stoning.
We just shouldn't and actually can not stone folks to death for
adultery at this time, and thank God for that.

Have a blessed day.

Matt if everyone did believe in Jesus and did know the Will of the Father there'd be hardly any bad things. There's times when I don't want to believe in Him just because I want to live a different lifestyle. It's the money and pleasure people want to find why do you think the jews killed him? He was commanding them to change their lifestyle. That's why the other prophets died too.

Hope this was helpful

Christian means a follower of Christ. If you don't believe in Jesus Christ you're not a follower of Christ and therefore I would think, not a Christian. You can believe in God without believeing in the Trinity and that Jesus Christ is a manifistation of Gods three divine beings in one which is a mystery central to Christian religions but that would make you believer but a non-Christian.

the Simple Answer is Pride. People want Jesus + something to believe that they have some part in it. But the Bible is clear that "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Eph 2:8-9

It is because that Jesus came to die for the sins of all mankind. Jesus' blood saves all sinners who confess Him as their Savior, the Son of God, born of a virgin, healed the sick, cured the lame, raised the dead, preached the gospel, was crucified, buried, and rose on the third day. If you believe this and confess your sins to God as soon as you do them, you are covered by the blood. Salvation in itself is not the hardest thing in the world to attain, and I would rather have it than all the wealth in the world.

Your kind of taking scripture out of context to say what you want it to say...

That scripture means that there are many that do things in the name of the Lord and they call Him Lord, but they never accepted Him as Lord and asked for forgiveness of their sins...

"For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, NOT by works so that no-one can boast."- Ephesians 2:8-9, the Bible

Do you believe that when a person accepts Jesus as His Lord, that Jesus (aka The Holy Spirit) really does come and live in that person's heart?
I do.
If Jesus is living in a person's heart, won't He be able to influence that person's choices? Do you believe the Spirit will do as Jesus said He would, bring His teachings to your mind, and guide you?
I do.
We are saved by faith, not by works, lest any one should boast...yes? But, as James tells us, faith without works is dead. Remember, too...demons also believe...and tremble.

If you do not believe in Jesus you can not be called a Christian! For Christian means a follower of Jesus!

What you speak of is those who preach the word for gain, or use the word for status, nether know Christ, and more important Christ does not know them!
