I am 21 and I don’t get my period. I first time I go my period I was 12 and it was regular for about 3 months and then stopped. I knew it wasn't a big deal at the time because it would come and go. But it wasn't unusual for me to go months and months without getting it. Between age 12 and 20 I maybe got my period 8 times. And then last July I started again and it was regular for 5 months so I thought everything was ok and it was going to finally continue to be normal. But then it stopped again. And I haven't had my period since Jan. My doctor knows that it is irregular and he doesn't seem concerned but I haven't seen him in awhile. I know going to the doctors is obviously the best thing to do but I just thought maybe some one could give me some advice. Any help would be great!
P.S. Don’t get me wrong, I love not having it….its great but I know that its not normal and I am starting to worry about my health.

If any comfort, my sister had the same problem, it was a tipped uterus, and needed invetro fertilization for her first baby, but after her first baby, she had no problem getting pregnant and has her period regular now. Just a thought! Ultrasound will be able to tell you this.

I would get checked out. Sometimes if girls train very excessively they may lose thier periods altogether. Very rigorous excercise can do that. But if you're not, I would get checked out. Something could be "off" with your hormones and believe it or not they could put you on the pill to regulate it.

But I dont know what is wrong with you. Go to a good gynecologist or OB and get checked out. You're male doctor should not dismiss it as NOTHING until he has at least run tests on you. There might not be much they can do other than put you on the pill but at least you will know there isn't some other problem happening down below.

As you said, obviously you should see your doctor. But some possible explanations are things such as genetics... does/did your mother have a regular period? Also, your body weight. If you are extremely over or under weight it will usually effect your cycle.

I don't blame you for being concerned. Definitely make an appointment with a gynecologist.

I would just keep a book on it and try to see if there is some sort of pattern u never know, if all else fails go online to seek more info about irregular periods and then go back to the doctor with your finding. GOOD LUCK!!!

Don't worry it is something normal, because your period is irregular, it has happened to me sometimes, but then when I am getting worried it starts again. So don't be worried and enjoy it, but still is better to see a doctor to be sure that everything is ok.

you didn't say how much you weigh. I know that doesn't sound important, but if you are underweight you may not have a period. Your body needs to have at least 12% body fat for you to menstuate. If you have a low body fat percentage because you are underweight or an athlete you could lose your period. Also your period could stop because of high levels of stress.

if your doctor doesn't have any concerns than you need to stop worrying yourself to death! My friend would only get her period once every 4 month. It bothered her also, so she went on birth control and now it's regular.

Very likely due to stress or hormonal imbalance. You really do need to get it checked out since it can do more harm than good in the long run if it's not looked into.

I would like to say, enjoy it while it lasts. Try a multiple vitamin that can balance out your body and maybe it will start again. Your body sounds like it is missing something, a vitamin or something.
