to believe in something so greatly that nothing will let you fall.....you believe it to be the truth....Like on a cliff's edge...you can see nothing infront of you but air and a 1000ft drop.....
You step out believing that you will either fly or be carried across...it is an expression....and expression of trust.
It does not necessarily have to be associated with religion.

Religion doesn't necesarilly have to be involved. It's the idea that sometimes you might make a decision or do something even though it goes completely against your better judgement... doing something even though every fiber of your being tells you it's wrong. Sometimes taking these chances are what makes average people great. Sometimes you need to take a 'leap of faith' to experience what life truly has to offer.

it's all about TRUST. You can take a chance on something or someone, or even God your leap would be blindly trusting that person. So if someone asks you to take a leap of faith, its to believe and trust in or on something with out a lot of information, and a lot of love or heart.

A "leap of faith," is an truly unselfish act; to give of yourself, to HELP someone or do something, only because it is the right thing to do! And the only REWARD you will get, is from the personal satisfaction you'll receive in knowing you performed a selfless act!

Consciously choosing to believe in something despite the complete lack of evidence.
Faith in god really requires two leaps. The easy part is believing in god. The much more difficult part - as is obvious from the postings here by believers - is in accepting that one actually needs faith to believe. The vast majority of believers, it seems, don't have enough faith to accept that there is no evidence for the existence of god. They seem to want their beliefs to be based in evidence, rather than faith, so they accept obviously invalid arguments for god's existence.

Someone said "dieing hopes". It is exactly the opposite. A leap of faith is going positively, happily and blindly forward knowing that God will pave the way.

Leap of faith is when you decide on a course of action and stick with it, even if the obstacles in your path seem insurmountable.

To trust God even when things are screaming that what you want will not happen.
You just have to believe God and His promises to us.
