Standard routines for most animal shelters, is to have all animals fixed before they are eligilbe for adoption.

I'm sure shes only picking up a little weight. Shes just happy and happy she has a home where shes loved. Shes either just filling out to her normal weight, which is approximately - * Pleasantly Plump * or maybe you are feeding her a little too much and giving her a few too many treats. Which may not be a good thing, as she may be learning to be a glutton. Then - yeah she is getting very chubby.
A visit to your vet, would be in order, I'm sure they can give you recommendations for what would be right to feed her and limits on what kind and how many treats she can have.

Some cats are just naturally pigs that look like cats. My friend had a cat, who weighed 47 pounds. He was quite an oinker. precious yes. But eventually he had to be put on a diet. During his diet, he constantly meowed for more food, the poor thing. Eventually chased away the dogs just to get at their food. Well he lost weight, and for a few years, he was a very baggy saggy kitty. Eventually he thined out, to his proper weight, according to his vet. But he still complains for more food around his dinner and breakfast time. Its just so hilarious - watching him look for more, in the cabinets & cupboards.

A vet is your best bet. Usually animals from the shelter are fixed before being adopted. If she is pregnant, she will gain weight on her abdomen, expanding to her sides, will develop breasts that are more and more visible, and be very hungry. She is eating for her liter, so be sure to feed her specially formulated nutritional food! I hope you will find good homes for the kittens, and get her spay when the vet says it is safe.

She is probley just getting fat. Most animal shelters require that all animals are spade or neautered before leaving. Has she been around any males in order to get pregnant? Cats are pregnant for about 2 months. Catch her while she is sleeping or laying on her side and gently lay your hand on her belly. Wait and see if you feel any movement. I will bet she is probley just gaining weight though.

I think your cats just fat, my cat was the same way when i got her and now shes HUGE! you will probably just have to wait and see, most animal shelter "fix" most of the animals before giving them away. it also depends if your cat is an outside or inside cat, sometimes they can "meet" other cats while outside.

most animal shelters require they be spayed before you can adopt and take them in you care.
You should also be concerned she does not gain too much weight this can cause health issues down the road.
Purinia has excellant cat foods that help with weight control.
If she is not getting enough exerise buy her some toys that will help her get more active.
Watch that weight!

First of all she might have not been treated so well before and now when she eats she gains weight quickly, but i think you should take her to the vet anyway for a check up and whule youre there ask them.

Take her to the vet. He or she can tell you. I had adopted a skinny cat myself and she got huge really quickly too. She was not pregnant, just ate a lot and didn't exercise. :)

Usually when you get a cat from the shelter they have already been spayed. Many times when you get them spayed they will gain some weight.

This happened to my family.....the shelter said she was spayed...yup thats right.....she WAS NOT SPAYED! If you have another cat or you let her outside and there are other cats in the neighborhood, it could be possible that she is pregnant! All I think you can do is wait.... I think! Wait.... huh... nevermind.... I hope I helped you and your cat!

If you got her form an animal shelter, she was more than likely spayed. All shelters I know of spay and neuter before adoption.
