I don't have any Caro syrup, Tarter or anything. All I have it Molasses. I have some bread flour but I'd hate to add flour to it - just because it doesn't sound right. Can I add that to already made (store bought) BBQ sauce to thicken it without it tasting too sweet? Or is there something else I can use? It's storming and I don't want to go back out. I plan to heat it up - I understand that will help some.

in a sauce pan, add one bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce. add two tablespoons of molasses, one tablespoon of butter or margarine, and simmer over low heat. this will thicken to the right consistency. you can also add two tablespoons of brown sugar, if you don't want to use the molasses. enjoy!!!!!.

First simmer on low to thicken. If it still needs more, add tomato paste & molasses ( equal amts a teaspoon at a time). Save the flour as a last resort, it will weaken the taste.

Try using some ketchup mixed in with the store bought. Then it won't be too sweet.

You could try that solution. But some brands are thin, too. I suggest Bullseye. It's my favorite brand!
