celebrities are always "hated" and "loved" by total strangers
its part of the fun
its why we have celebrities
of course, nobody ACTUALLY hates Phil Mickleson (except maybe his ex-girlfriend, or his caddy, or his brother-in-law)
for real love and hate we need to know someone very well
even people who "hate" president bush don't know him but merely hate a few of his policies or actions or statements

Phil M is absolutely beloved by golf fans worldwide. He is a super nice guy and a super family man. I have never heard anyone say a bad word about Phil. The only negative thing ever said about him is that some commentators do not think he plays to his potential.

Phil Mickelson is probably on of the most liked players on the Tour by players and fans - his knock was that he couldn't win a major and now he has a few - he is always worshipped by the golf fans for being kind of hum-drum - my prob with Phil is that he buckles under pressure and he uses poor judgment in alot of situations -

I personally do not like Phil,he looks like a moron and will always find a way to blow it on Sunday! We have a expression,Phil takes it up the azz! He may be a great fellow,I'm just not a fan.

I don't think that he is. If you go to a PGA tour event he always has the biggest crowd. He might have lost some of his fans after his performance in the US Open. He double bogeyed the 72nd hole to lose by one shot after a terrible drive where he should have used a iron and played it safe.

Didn't know he was hated. He seems fine to me. Maybe because he is successful. Jealousy can trigger that.
Everyone in the spotlight is loved or despised by someone. That is why it pays to be a hermit. Then no one knows to like or dislike ya! LOL

Phil is my husbands idol I dont think many people hate him or do they? he is really an all around good man. My husband is even trying to convience me in naming a kid after him!

Phil is one of the most loved players on tour - crowds get rowdy happy when he comes to their hole.

I don't think the correct term would be "hated" but he does act quite goofy most of the time.
He kind of hunkers around out there...
