Write a proposal - what it's for, who it's going to help, who gets funds, how often, qualifications for a person getting funds, etc.

Will you have a board- people who see/head your charity org

Do you need a 501 3 c- for taxes and such

-I would suggest talking to other local charities in your area and asking them how they started up, or if they can give you any idea's, suggestions, etc.

Find a current organization with somewhat similar (not the exact same) intrests. Make a lot of friends there, gain support... once you have enough people and support get them to go along with your charity and have them help you spread the word about it and organize it. Then hope it catches on... Churches can be helpful too, to get people to know about it.

I suggest that you see an attorney who can set you up as a non profit organization and prepare all of the related documents.

Gp in person to the Internal Revenue Service-Taxpayer Assistance Division and see what literature they have on the subject. It's free. Or you can go to www.irs.gov and see what it has on file. Again, you can download as long as you have Adobe.
