I read a jews article last week about how zionism started, and he must think everyone is dead that knew the story in 1948 when america and england forced palestian to accept jews, after america england and several other countries had taken all of them they would take, oh, yes they were paid a pence or so , but, america, and england has passed laws, bill, etc to finance israel and to arm them so strong that no one in the region would or could be competive, so in 1958 ten years after the palestanians were forced t o accept the jews , the jews were so thankfull they decided to take the whole country for them selfs of course with american help and arms including nuclear, taht they used against the arabs in the so called 6 day war, the marines found unexploded neculear war heads , but, were told to keep quite about it, I am not in love with the arabic people and the moslum religion is almost as vile as the jewish religion so I don't care for either, But give the devil his due, how would you feel and what would you do if some one came in here and took your home & country and told you toget out or die? and if you say what mr Bush wants the palestians to say , ( welcome) then you don't deserve any thing else. no freedom,or home or country etc. the war in Lebanon is simple about a invader who came in and took the homes businesses etc and every thing the palestanians had with american help, now will you tell me how they can stop fighting for their homes families ect, or how they could ever like the americans, they told us in the marine corps to never give up , I guess I took that to mean what it said, and I will say I do respect the arabs when they will fight against such staggering odds, and any one who calls them cowards is just plain stupid , the jews own our fearless leader Mr, Bush and he is trying to pave the way for his brother to be president, by kissing the jews ,,, as they own the news media and no one cna win without their support,

It is about the sovereignty of an Israeli nation surrounded by Islamic nations who just don't like the fact that Israel is run by Jews who are supported by the West.

The war was an effort to secure northern sections of Israel against rocket attacks by Hezbollah (the de facto military in Lebanon, more intent on attacking Israel than on existing as a peacekeeping, defense force for the fragile Lebanese state).

The war is also a proxy fight between the US and Iran, and was Iran's first attempt to exert influence through military means, over an Islam-dominated region in a power vacuum. Hezbollah is Iran's way of letting the world's Muslims know (or think) that Iran will defend them and their honor against those 'devlish, imperialistic Christian/Zionists'.

The war is radical Islam's attempt to test the envelope. I think by capitulating to cease fires and toothless resolutions and buffer zones with peacekeeping forces that have no stake in the game shows radical Islam that they can manipulate the West and also shows radical Islam that the West and its proxies have no stomach for combat.

This is a bad signal to send a warring culture intent on turning back the clock on civilization and reverting the world to a misogynistic, totalitarian, anti-technology, anti-human rights environment. The cease fire and resolution will just allow Hezbollah and its supporters more to time to catch their breath, regroup and attempt to re-exert their influence and advance their agenda. If the world does not want Hezbollah-type elements having any power or influence, the cease fire adhered to is an odd way of showing their refusal to put up with radical Islam. Nothing's changed except for the dust settling, for now.

Iahwke has probably given the best answer, and most accurate. It is a war over land, if you wish to call it a war at all, its more like an invasion of Isreal into Lebenon, and the Palestine countries. US is supporting Isreal in money, weapons, and media support
making Isreal look like a "victim" instead of the aggressor, while the CIVILIANS, mostly women and children of the "invaded territories" are suffering with obsene, unneeded slaughter, and tourcher. The Jews are simply redoing to them what Hitler did to the Jews years ago, and there is absolutely no justification. For the record, I am an American Christian, not a middle east jew, or muslem, so Im not speaking from their point of view, its what i research that gave me mine.

The war is about the same thing all the rest were about, the end of the world.... to some level any way. Its not about who’s right or wrong, people have some form of erge to fight. especially when they are in control of peoples lives. I don’t think our leaders take into consideration there responsibilities to the people they command or the lives that they affect by calling each other names and starting ah war. to them we are but numbers on a piece of paper. I'm not ah Hippie but i've been to Iraq an can say that people are more than just something to put in ah body bag.

War is about killing innocent people, i don't agree with one of the answerer that israel had enough of hazbollah cos it was hitting rockets, but its totally wrong, israel started the mitilatary operation first in lebanon cos of 2 soldiers who were kidnapped by hazbollah because they were on the lebanon border side with tanks, and then hazbollah demanded to free their some prisoner out of 9000 that israel got in their jalls for no reason. hazbollah only demanded to free the people under 18 year old and women, and the people who are sick, did not demand to free all 9000 prisoners. despite of considering the solution using democracy, israel started bombing lebanon and only usa supported it. atleast 1000 killed in lebanon and all civilians, there is no confirmation deaths about hazbollah, and 150 died in israel as well.

Bush himself is terrorist who is supporting israel for such a non human act. when the whole world is appealing for ceasefire, bush wants to carrry it on.

The same thing all wars are about two groups that can't come to a settlement over a disagreement about who is right.
