Wow, this could be a bevy of problems.

Did you recently install something new?

What version of ie? could be anything from you're modem or another driver causing the crash.

Did new install new memory cards or a modem, if so what kind of modem?

Is it isolated to IE, can you run other programs and not crash?

What exactly is the error message written on the screen, is there an error number?

Were there any reconfigurations done since your last non crash, if so do you know what they were?

What operating system version are you using?

If you can, you could if you're using win2k or higher go to control panel, chose system and then find the system services feature. Check out the system log files(if you have the feature and it is on) that will tell you what happend. Whe logging is on the errors get saved into a log file, usually in the windows/system32 or similar folder. These are text files so you can load them in a text reader. Check for the time the crash occurred and the steps done prior to the crash. If you have log data from the last time you did not crash, check the file and find the part that is the same as just before you crashed. The parts that different is the problem and there could be a log given greator detail.

If this is daunting then when you contact tech support or post here, then provide the answers to the questions I posed earlier this will cut the trouble shooting time down and narrow in on the possible problem better.

The first thing you need to do is write down the error message as this will tell the techs at MS what exactly IE is having problems with...then email MS Support with the error code and what IE is doing and then they'll give you options on how to fix the problem...
You might just try reinstalling IE...If you're using IE7 Beta 2 then your computer might be having problems with the program itself and there's no support for Beta releases...

Need more data than this to answer your question.

Which version of Windows are you using? XP? '98?
Which version of IE are you using?
How much memory do you have?

If your version of Windows is earlier than ME, then you need to upgrade. (Buy from a store)
If IE is less than version 6, you need to download or buy (or better still, go for mozilla firefox browser instead www.mozilla.org as it is less error prone)

If less than 256K memory (512 better) then you need to have more added. If you don't know how, you will need to get a friend or pay for a service tech to come in and fit it.

Sorry I can't help more than that.

Do a sweep for viruses, spyware, etc. While I do not know for sure, sometimes programs look like one thing, but they are actually viruses, spyware, etc
