Need to be in Salem OR by 08/20/06 can not leave Wilmington NC, until August 15th. I have done the math but still think there is more to it than that. I have driven there from here (NC) 6 times. Never less than 7 days. Thanks, Mike

I moved from Hickory NC to Portland OR in 2001. I drove the whole time, only stoping for gas and food. It took 40 hours, almost to the minute.

You could do it, driving very long, hard days. Getting on the road at dawn, and driving at least 14 hours a day. Probably wouldn't be very pleasant, and you would have to be vigilant to keep safe. While I wouldn;t recommend it, it can be done. Would be far better if you could take a second driver along. Better yet ... fly or take a train.

According to Mapquest, it's 3100 miles, give or take a few. If you don't mind driving 12 hours a day (or more), you can do it.
