I am a Youth Pastor, and I am having a group session on "Living life without God!".
If God gives us free will, why do some people chose to live without Him?"
But think about this, before you answer...
If God is life, and breath, then honestly, are we living without Him? His grace abounds! So the question is not why can't I live without Him, because we can't.
The question is, Why won't I recognize that I haven't lived without Him?"

Why do you WANT to handle life on your own without God? He is the best friend anyone can have. He loves you unconditionally and will never let you down if you trust Him completely.
You have made many decisions on your own. But getting to know God better gives a person wisdom to make wiser choices than they would otherwise. If you learn to hear His Voice guiding you, your life will be better because He will help you know the best way to go when faced with a decision.
By the way, please ignore "Barbara's World's" answer. The truth is that although scientists have isolated genetic predispositions toward violence and other genetic "markers" toward so called "religion" it does not mean the individual with those genes will absolutely choose that behavior. Behavior is based on many factors, not all of which are genetic. Environment does play a definite role. Just because a person has a certain "genetic predisposition" does not mean they will ever exhibit that behavior. * Science is not the answer to everything!
Another correction to "Barbara's World's" answer is that religion is NOT "responsible for the majority of wars". Greed for territory, power and wealth provided by that territory are the biggest motivations for war. Religion may be secondary and simply a convenient cover for the first three motives.
"Religious" people DO understand the question "why". Einstein, Newton, Michael Faraday and Gregor Mendel (The Father of Genetics) were all religious men, proven by a little historical research. Likening "religion" to the Bible is like comparing hard-dried raisins to a juicy steak. No comparison.
Being a "religious" person does not negate the ability to reason rationally as proven by the accomplishments of the scientists above. Where do you think scientists get their inspiration for their great ideas? From God, of course!

Who said that you can't handle your life on your own? God created us with free will...we are free to obey or disobey God at any time...even after we become Christians.
There are things that you can't control, though. Other people's actions and opinions, natural disasters...think about it for a minute. There are also things that God chooses not to control...when we ask God to leave us alone, He does.
Life can be better, though...God's plan is the best of all possible outcomes, and He always has your best interests at heart. It may not seem like it at times, but His love for us can protect us from all harm...even that which we cause for ourselves.

You can handle anything you wish, just go for it. Scientists will soon explain why some people are religious and believe in God, and why there’s so much trouble caused in the world by religion. Scientists have already shown that some people carry a "warrior" gene that makes them more prone to violence and criminal acts.
Some people are genetically predisposed to violence and criminal acts, and I believe scientists have also found that some people are genetically predisposed to religious or spiritual acts, but have yet to publish their full findings to avoid a public uproar.
Scientists may well discover that people who are predisposed to the “religious or spiritual” gene are probably more likely to also be predisposed to the “warrior” gene, which would ultimately cause these people to have religious conflicts like crusades and wars. It is already a well known fact that religion is responsible for the majority of wars, conflict and murder of innocent life since humanity began.
Religious people do not understand the question “why” and so God, Religion, the Bible, or whatever, takes over and controls their mind. The trouble with this solution, unlike science, is that anything can be twisted into whatever you wish to believe and therefore is always right. Sadly to say, that’s irrational thought.
However, there must be a rational explanation why religious people act in such an irrational manner, and I think scientists will prove in the near future that it’s all a function of genetic disposition.

Most Christians believe that any problem can be handled with Gods help. And allot of the time if you ask a Christian what you should do about a situation they will tell you something like. Give it to God. A common thing for people to do when they don't know what to do is ask God and let me tell you why.
The bible itself is basically a Guidebook on how to live your life here on earth so that you glorify God here and in the afterlife. The Bible isn’t like some self help book you buy at the book store or something like that. The concepts in the bible even to a non Christian are a solid and a reliable guideline on how a person should act if they want to be a positive influence in this world. If you doubt this statement then read about the life of Christ.
Firstly God doesn’t handle your problems for you. He gives you the tools and the wisdom and you figure out if you want to follow his guidelines or not. Secondly God gave us all free will, what that means it’s your choice if you want to handle your life how God might handle it or how you would handle it. The Bible is old wisdom that still applies to today’s world. Not only is it a reliable way to find out how to act but its the most popular method of finding out how to act. The Bible sells more copies then any other book on this earth EVER period and since that is so. Then there must be a really good reason. The reason is, these biblical concepts work.
Firstly you read the Bible. Its one of the most important things you can do for yourself even if you never give your life to God.
Why? Because half the world has read the Bible and you really don't have any right to say anything negative about ANY book before you read it. Not only is that but the Bible a key element in understanding many current events that are happening in this world today. And I don’t say that because I think the world is ending or something like that. I say that because it’s important to understand these other cultures and religions that have an effect on your political and personal home environments. All you have to do is turn on the news to find that so much violence and suffering in this world has to do with religion and with out having some understanding of what’s going on with religion, can you understand what’s really happening in our world today.
God doesn’t want to tell you what to do. He wants to be informed and make choices for yourself. Facts are facts if you make Christ like choices then you will be happier and so will your family and friends. I’m not saying to follow God like a mindless zombie.
Go out and partie, Have a good time, don’t make any bad choices that are going to screw up your future like, Teen pregnancy, Methamphetamine use or Unsafe Sexual practice. Otherwise GO into the world and find out for yourself what Gods word has to say to you.
If you read the Bible someday when you need him, God will be there for you. Just remember God doesn’t make things happen to you. You make things happen and God sees what you do with it when it does.

You CAN handle your life on your own without God. That's what free will is all about.
Live it up.
If you change your mind though, turn to God, read His Word, do what it says, and He will never let you down.

Your question makes no sense, but I will manage to answer it? Hopefully.
Let's see, you can't handle life without him, because he is practically everywhere. It would be like living without your brain. You just can't!
As for your second question...I don not understand.

All God wants is you to love Him back and love others. That means don't do anything to hurt others and you have fulfilled the will of God. It seems to me that you're talkin about the "religious" aspect of God. If you experienced God Himself on your own, you wouldn't be saying what you said.
