well to start; the detox is! Eat nothing but fruits, vegetables, and water for nine days. Then start carbs. Best to just eat a lot of water weight like found in fruits and vegetables cause that's some of the easiest to lose and keeps you full and you're allowed to eat MORE without guilt. :)

Definitely calorie intake. Low carb diets are unnatural, usually result in uneven weight loss, and regaining the weight later on. I see so many questions about how to lose weight fast. The best is to lose it slowly so the body doesn't think it's being starved, and lower the metabolism. If you come to a plateau, just change your food choices. I joined Weight Watchers June 28, as of August 9 lost 8.6 lbs, and feel much stronger, probably because of the fruits and veggies. Lost 4.2 the first week. Look into it if you want. Their Points system is great, you eat foods you really like (less quantity), and never feel literally hungry. Together with walking or cycling in or outdoors, WW is a healthy way to lose. Good luck.

Hi
I would suggest a low calorie intake ,this plan really helps so here goes,
If you are serious about losing weight, the calories in the food you eat should be less than the energy you use. You will have to increase your metabolic rate now, and plan your diet carefully.
Formulate your own weight loss plan and you will lose weight faster. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/m7ckx
Good luck

Firstly- Diets don't work. Or... they only work temporarily. So, don't go on any diet that you're not ready to live on for the rest of your life.
There are a lot of 'tricks' to help you, but eating less and exercising more is what' going to make the difference.
some of the tricks:
Eat more often. i.e. snack between meals. This way, you're not starving when you sit down to eat.
Eat more slowly. it takes up to 15 min for your stomach to tell your brain that it's full. So, often people are still in the middle of eating when they're full, but their stomach hasn't told their brain yet. One trick here is to put your fork down after every bite, and don't shovel any more in your mouth until you've finished what's there.
Eat MORE... fruits and vegetables. There won't be room for anything else.
Eat more foods with fiber. They'll fill you up, slow down your glycemic reaction, and fiber has no calories.
Eat Breakfast. It's better to have a big breakfast than a big dinner.
Minimize the simple sugars and white menace (white flour, white bread, white pasta, etc).
good luck. But it really comes down to changing your lifestyle, not going on some silly grapefruit diet.
Oh- about the exercise part. Do both aerobic as well as strength training. Building muscle mass actually trains your body to use more calories when you are resting, not just working out. So, do strength training to sleep your way to thinness.

Watch the calorie intake.
Low carbs are difficult for the intestinal tract and can come back to haunt you years later with problems like diverticules.
Knock down the calories and admit that diets make you hungry!

Fee fee is right. Rather than low carb dieting, just limit things that have a high glycemic index that tend to spike your blood sugar and get metabolized too quickly. What's not metabolized, or I should say "quickly used" gets broken down into sugar and stored as fat. These foods are breads, potatoes, rice and pasta.
Upping your protein and calcium intake, using fruits as your snacks, eating 5 small meals and drinking at least one gallon of water can cause you to loose. To optimize your results, it is good to burn some of those calories by working out (walking, running, biking) just 30 min. or more daily. That boosts your metabolism/fat burning as well.

All calories are not the same. We don't combust food, we have other ways of extracting the energy from it (excuse me, while I check my biscuits - I'll give'em five more minutes). Carbs aren't so much the problem as starches. You can eat as much in the way of carbohydrates as you'd like, just stay away from potatoes, pasta, noodles, bread, rice, wheat and corn.
Lean (but not TOO lean) protein with some nice veggies is the way to go.

Be a kid again! When eating out, order a child’s sandwich, pizza or pizza. Then you can have the treats you cherish, while reducing your portions and cutting your calorie intake.

Swap a bowl of pasta for a bowl of vegetables. You can conserve to 200 calories by lowering the starch and adding greens.
