Here are a few possible answers:
1. He doesn't love you and was surprised you said it.
2. He has low self-esteem and can't believe anyone would love him.
3. He wants you to do something to prove you love him - such as sex or money.
If you think the answers are 1 or 3, dump him. If the answer is #2, then just lay off of telling him you love him or he might feel overwhelmed.

i think he probably asked because you caught him off guard. it is possible that he does not use the word love lightly and had no idea you felt so strongly about him. he may not feel the same at the moment just because you two have different interpretations of the word. give him time and dont rush him. that way when he tells you you will know that he truly does and its not just because he knows thats what you want to hear.

I'm sorry to say but if he didn't say it back is because you are the only one in love. And maybe not so depending on your age, you might be confused and is good that if he doesn't feel love for you is because he hasn't experience much as relationships yet.
don't feel bad, just don't say it to him again you already said it once and you didn't get back a response so wait for what he will say to you later in regards to that if not leave it alone.

What I think he wants to know is why you said that. I really don't know how long you two have been together but if you love him say it over and over again. And just maybe he might as well say "I love you too"

hey i saw a movie in which a secne was just like ur situation. The guy asked the same question in the movie and then the guy destroys the girl with a bomb and later the girl finds out that he is a terrorist..

just tell him why you love him. He just wants to make sure you do really love him and you are not only saying it or for other reasons.

The reason he asked you that is because he doesn't love you, he could just be using you for sex,so girl don't feel for him,must guy only love their mamas, fo show.

He might not take the relationship as serious as you do, or he maybe wants to know all the things you love about him.
