Depends on the owner and the dog. My dog is a Border Collie/Lab and she's literally a high maintenance bltch. When someone gave her some left-over ham, she refused to eat anything but ham for several weeks. She actually ate nothing at all for five days till I broke down and bought her ham. She's smarter than me and has me well-trained by now. I spend about $150 a month on her. She weighs about 85 pounds (she's kind of fat) and is the best friend I've ever had.

I have three dogs and it is very expensive. Bigger dogs are much more expensive obviously. We buy our dogs very good food so that does add to the cost and I put 30 bucks in a savings account for emergency vet costs. Never let your emergency account be under $500 to $1000. You do not want to be one of those people who have to put their dog down because they can't afford a surgery. It is hard enough to lose the dog, but to think you could prevent it by saving would be awful.

Initial costs are most expensive, you must have a kennel (again big dog much more expensive), toys, quality food, treats a bed etc....

On all the dogs including the savings we spend about $300 a month.

For one dog medium sized I would say about $100 including heartworm meds, food, toys, treats and a savings.

I have a cocker Spaniel His name is Uno I can't tell you how much is going to cost you but I can help you have an idea

If the dog you are planing to have is big or small or has a lot of hair and need to be trained you need to do and expense list

For example I Take Uno every 2 month to the groomer and it cost me $125.00 for full grooming

Food, I buy Uno a 10 pound of Pedigree Dry Food every 3 month and it cost about $25.00, Biscuit and treats as desire I spend around $15.00 every month (My dog Love treats and I train him with treats)

Shampoo and cloths, If you buy a big bottle of shampoo and conditioning Each one cost me $7.00 (good Ones) and it last me like 4 to 5 month, And cloths when is winter I only have like two pairs and it look like new and it cost me 9.99 each

Don’t forget the flea’s treatments I give Uno 1 treatment every 2 weeks because I take him to the dog park and you’ll never know if other dog has it and it cost me a pack of 4 $45.00

So if you add up for a yearly expense

125.00 * 6 month = $750.00 year
25.00 * 4 = $100.00 year
15.00 * 12 = 180.00 year
7.00 * 3 = 21.00year
45.00 * 12 = 540.00year

Grand total $1,591 yearly
Monthly $132.00 a month

Hey but don’t get me wrong I love my dog and he is a spoil brat so I spend all this on him and also he is in house dog, But if you are planning to have a dog jut for the back yard it will cost less trust me!

The other answers are good, about $100-$200 a month, not counting shots and vet visits. DON'T SKIMP ON FOOD. Buy the expensive stuff, Eukanuba or Iams, a premium food. Otherwise, you will be spending a ton more on vet bills because the other stuff is like feeding yourself CiCis every day. (If you don't know CiCi's, it's just a really cheap pizza place.) It'll fill them up, but they will be sickly. So don't skimp on food! Premium only and it will save you money in the long run.

Depends on your area and vet charges, call your local vet and check it out. The size of the dog depends of food costs, good dog food will save you money in the long run. Hope this helps, and check out you local shelter, lots of good animals need homes.

depends on what you want to feed it, there is dog food that cost like 60 bucks a bag then there is some that is like 10 bucks, but monthly it should not cost that much.......... like maybe like 40 depends on how big and how much your dog can eat

i own several dogs. you need to buy dogfood. find out how much the dog weighs so you know how much to feed. you will have yearly vet visits for shots and stuff. spay and neuter (one time only, lol) flea meds during the summer and heartworm pills all year. find out how much all that costs in your area and you're set.
