We have a great pyrenees and the look so alike...

well, great pyrenees are supposed to be bigger. their shoulder height is supposed to be 25-32 inches, versus golden is around 20-24inches. cream english golden retriever has slightly more yellowy coat then pyrenees. but yea, I do agree that they look kind of alike. a normal person wouldn't even think about pyrenees when they see a big dog with tons of fur that looks like a golden...
personality wise, pyrenees can be much more protective then golden, but they are also very friendly. they are supposed to be good with strangers that has good intentions, and are really sensitive to people with bad intentions. golden are just friendly to basically everyone. i know some people are going to disagree with me on this, but this is just what I observe.
oh, one more thing, pyrenees are sensitive to tone of voice. i know this pyrenees that gets really upset talk to her in a lower tone. funny, and cute in a way. :) but golden just couldn't care less. you scold them for one minute, and then they will come back happy the other minute. golden are just happy all the time.

I actually have a 2 y/o male golden and a 9 month previous Pyrenees. truthfully they're merely about the same length and function alot of the same temperament. the single large difference is the pyre is a barker.also the pyre sheds a heck of alot more effective. As pups they seem alot like Golden's.

A great pyrenees is supposed to be solid white...and a retriever is cream. my great pyrenees was taller than the retriever also.
