do people like the scottish accent??? and who cant understand us??

I am a scottish female,living in England.I have trained myself to talk slower and more concisely as people do have problems with the slang and understanding me.My partner is english and loves my accent,he has a southern accent and talks posh!! He understands me perfectly when Im in full scottish mode.Occasionally a word will come out that he doesn't understand.I've translated most of it for him.

Scottish accents are great! Can be very sexy too! I'm a Welsh girl & in the past went down to Cardiff to watch a Wales vs Scotland 6 nations rugby game. It was fantastic, I had such a laugh with all those Scottish men, they're mad! Unfortunately the rest of the girls in my group struggled to understand the lads but i had no probs (they were from Glasgow) so I spent most of my time being a translator!!

As you can see by my aviator, i am a welshman. But whilst in the army I served in 16 AD Regt Royal Artillery who were known as the Strathclyde gunners. I managed to get used to their Glaswegian accents......eventually! Also my Sister lived in Scotland...First in Carnoustie, then in Letham angus...Love a Scotish accent...especially the female scottish accent!

i absolutely adore the scottish accent, and i love irish accents too.
I am not too keen on welsh accent, however i think most accents sound lovely, especially on a man. Except brummie(sorry) but it sounds bad on everyone!!

Unfortunately, my experience with my Scottish neighbours has put me off of the accent and the country, I know that sounds daft, but honest, I have a dis functional family living next door, the son flashes to my young children, he threatened to stab my husband, made very lewd remarks to me,and he is as UGLY as they make em! We have lost countless nights sleep, due to him coming home drunk, and obnoxious, and to matters worse, I CANNA UNDERSTAN IM!!!! so no.

i love scottish accent, i think its really sexy in men, when i,ve rang glasgow regarding my abbey insurance and get a scottish fella on the other end i could speak and listen to them for ages,

I love Scottish accents...but then my family is from Moy Hall, near Inverness ....Clan MacKintosh...you'll find us at Culloden Battlefield too.

Yes... I loved Mark McManus as Taggart way before my family ever understood a word he said... can't watch it without him though... so sad when he died.

I was once serenaded by a handsome Scot who quoted Burns to me across two hours... heavenly... every other woman at the writer's conference we attended was sick with envy;-)

And the best part was... I shook his hand, and he'd shaken hands with my hero Mark only a few weeks before...

The whole things started because someone asked who we'd all like to be stuck in a lift with and I amazed them all by saying Mark McManus.... and this lovely Scot took me aside to tell me of his meeting with MM and then we sat for hours and I listened enthralled to Burns...

course, I was young and pretty then;-)

I've called two of my dogs Taggart since then.
