They're all fat at one end then curve to the side and the other end is really skinny, or they're short and fat...they're almost never like they are in the grocery store

if you grow the vine on a cage or fence or trellis you will have better looking cucumbers.

Grocery store providers use hormones, chemicals, fertilizer, etc. almost every day! They also have expertise, and they can lay their hands on the finest seeds.
Home grown tastes better in my opinion, even if it isn't a perfect capsule shape!
