I am in the SAME situation as you :( Except I had sex on July 30th and this is my week to find out if I am pregnant or not. I took a home pregnancy test yesterday but it is still a little too soon (and when you buy one, spend a few dollars more and get the digital that will say pregnant or not pregnant, instead of the plus and minus...When I took the test one of the lines is faded so it could be a plus but for me it is too soon so the hormones that the test is "looking" for can't be picked up)...normally you can take a home pregnancy test 4-5 days before your period is due. I have two children so I know what's it's like to be pregnant...for me, I think I might but the cramping can also be the start of my period...Since I am not 100% when I think my period will be (I think around the 18th-22nd) I'm gonna try again on Wednesday and then on Friday...GOOD LUCK!!!
Just to let you know...I tested this morning and was positive :( I am assuming my period would have been somewhere between the 18th and the 22nd...Just whenever you think/know your period should be, you can test up to 5 days before...

EPT's test gives the soonest results, but you have to wait until around the time that you would or should have started your period before it would show as a positive. The HCG level in your blood, which is the pregnancy hormone does not show until around that time. Your HCG level will be between 0-5 when you are not pregnant and it continues to increase when you are pregnant. You have to be at least 2 weeks from conception before the hormones begin to increase. What I can tell you to do if this will help is this: Can you remember the last day of your last period? If so, count 12 days from then, and figure the next 6 as your possible "fertile days." As long as you did not have this happen to you within those days, you should be fine. Otherwise, you will have to wait it out. Hope this helps.

Well, it depends how soon you're expecting your period but if you more less know when to expect it, I'd wait 5 days after your expected period just to be sure, it'd be the right timing to take a pregnancy test. I'd also recommend "First Response" or "Ept", they're really good. But now these days most pregnancy test have that dectective pregnancy hormone so I'm sure you'll get the correct results in what your choice is. Good luck.

If you use an early response test, about 5 days before you expect your period...but to be most accurate, wait until you are expecting your period.

Unfortunately, the week you would have begun your period. Anything before that could give you a false negative reading... not the peace of mind you're looking for!

First Response as far as i know is the fastest one. It tells you up to a week BEFORE your missed period.
