I liked the Big Island for KMC, but you can only go there if you're in the military (I think-maybe you can get there otherwise) but you can see the volcano and you have your own cozy little house to live in and it's really nice. If you go in the winter there's sometimes snow upthere because it's on the mountain.
Also I like Princeville on Kauai. It is expensive, but very worth it. You get your own condo with a magnificent view.Kauai is GREAT! see the fern grotto, and go snorkeling. It is a very nature-oriented place. There's this town and it has a nice hotel in it with condos, and it's just so peaceful. there's a lot of hippies there, so it's all very nature-ish, with some vegan restaurants too.
You should get to Oahu just because, but I can't think of any great places to stay there except for the Ihilani Resort near Kapolei. It is on a bunch of lagooons, but it's not as crowded and rocky as Waikiki. Believe me, Waikiki is really over rated. There's lots to do there, but it's always really crowded and the bottom of the ocean is rocky anyway. But you should go, if anything for the shopping and nightlife. If you must go to Oahu, I reccomend renting a beachhouse on the Windward side. Much more quiet and island-lifestylish.
Good things to do on oahu:
See the Hawaii Museum of Art
Go to the beach
See the Arizona memorial
drive through the mountain tunnel after it rains to see the waterfalls.
Go on an Atlantis submarine
See Iolani Palace and kawai'hao church
Go to the Aloha Market
Rent a boat and sail out to the sandbar on the Windward side
Go to the North Shore and have dinner at Jamesons (it's right across from the water so you can watch the sunset.)
Go to Ala Moana Mall and have breakfast at Longhi's.
Go across from the hilton hawaiian and eat at the wailana coffe house.
See the paradise Cove Luau (it is really great.)
Also you should do Maui for the whale watching, but check to see if the whales are in season. They come at a certain time of year.

I've been there three times because I fell in love with the islands, its heritage, its culture and its people immediately. My favorite island is the Big Island of Hawaii, because it's the least developed of all the main islands. Hiking is fantastic there, and we hiked at locations around the island. We even hiked during a torrential, all-day rainstorm...we were soaked through and through, muddy, mosquito-bittened...and it was fantastic FUN.
Oahu is nice but it's the busy hub for all tourists. Waikiki area is SO touristic and there's not much beach there. The North Shore is where all the surfing competition takes place.
Maui (the honeymoon island) is also very touristic on north and west. The rest of it is beautiful and very secluded.
Kauai, the garden island is very beautiful, and it's the wettest place on earth. Some of it is so remote that hiking into the jungle is impossible. In Kokee, you will find this red sand in the valley and in the mountains. This is my 2nd favorite island.
I always see at least 10 or more rainbows on each trip. It's just amazing. The flowers are everywhere, and you just put it in your hair, etc.

I have been to Oahu, Hilo, Hawaii (the big Island), and Maui.
For Oahu: Waikiki is a great beach. It's touristy but there are a lot of shops and food places too. There's a great market to shop in. I would also go to the North Shore and swim at Waimae Bay. Go to the shaved ice place up there and then head to Sunset Beach for the sunset. Also of note is Pearl Harbor and Diamondhead.
For Hawaii: Hilo is cool and rainy. We didn't swim here, we just did Mauna Loa Volcano and waterfalls (Rainbow Falls, Akaka falls). If you go on a weekend, there is only one food place open here. If you do the volcano, either hike at night or take a helicopter ride or you won't see any lava and will walk for 4 hours in the heat over a dangerous terrain.
For Maui: We did a luau here and we went snorkelling. I preferred the diving here over Hanauma Bay on Oahu. It was so peaceful.

When we were in Oahu I loved visiting the east side of the island. It was so different from the whole Waikiki scene. It was beautiful the weather was cooler and it was an enjoyable drive.
On Maui my favorite thing was biking down the volcano. If you do this though I would recommend the afternoon trip instead of the sunrise trip.

Hawaii is a impressive and intensely unique position to make stronger a relations. there are a tremendous variety of promoting factors yet shop in ideas some drawbacks. For all of that is variety, that is a really provincial area. in case you pass there, you do not with out delay grow to be one among them. you'd be an outsider for particularly some time previously being common. that is a really intense priced position to stay as each and every thing is imported, even the chocolate macadamia nuts. There aren't any further a tremendous variety of serious pastime opportunities, or perhaps a lot less for outsiders. You extra effective have a magnificent set "needed" pastime skills or you're transferring back particularly immediately. there's a reason maximum youthful children go away the islands to hit upon a residing, because there aren't any further many on the islands. The very last massive one is "island fever". maximum persons who pass there get it early and performance it for a lengthy time period. you're very remoted on the islands and also you get a "on my own" feeling. believe it or no longer, you may definitely run out of issues to do and also you may't purely run off to Vegas another weekend. Your is distant and it must be complicated on someone. you're in Paradise in spite of the undeniable fact that it particular received't experience like it after some months.

I have been to Honolulu and the thing I remember the most is taking a bus tour around the island in a rainstorm. Roads were flooding in places and getting out of the bus to see things was not pleasant. It is not something you would recommend but it was fun. The tour guide was very entertaining. Probably more fun in the sun but there were things that you wouldn't see in nice weather. If you get a chance to take the tour you see a lot of stuff and it's fairly inexpensive, $49 I think.

i recommend Oahu because there is Waikiki and Waikiki beach. Also there is Aloha Tower which has shops. there is Ala Moana shopping center/mall. Another great place to go is Kualoa Ranch. you can go horseback riding and see where movies were filmed. you also get a good view of China Mans Hat and other nice parts of the island. Diamond Head is good too.

Going to Hawaii is like a visit to Disneyland, each Island has its own unique and different things to see.
I have live here 42 years and have yet to see and do all. Many things I enjoy over & over.
Do what you want & like, not what others want.
