If its the Army you'll go to this place called PTRP. Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Program. It is absolutely the WORST place to be. Some soldiers are in there for up to a year trying to heal an injury. The bad thing about it is that the healing takes longer because the environment is still stressfull and you also have to be strong enough to pass the fitness test to get out of there and on to training or permanant party.

Good question. You might want to inform your recruiter and he/she might suggest delaying. However, during bootcamp, an injury could actually cause someone to be released. Depending on your job title or other circumstances. I was a medic in the air force and saw new recruits come to my ward...from boot camp with injuries or illnesses...and yes, some were released.

i am a US Marine. rest the ankle and rotate ice and heat. you will be running and jumping of a bus as soon as you get there. you will run or march to get your uniform, etc. if they notice that you have a problem they will ask you in a not so humane voice what the heck your problem is. they will ask you if you want to go to sick bay. if you can not participate in drills, they will hold you back. the first few days are extremely important as you will becoming accustomed to doing what they say when they say it as soon as they say "go" or "do it now". let your recruiter know the situation ahead of time as they don't like surprises either.

No, but they probably will make you wait to begin your training. If you reinjure it, you will most likely have to go back a few weeks in your training, which means you will be there longer.

They won't discharge you unless it is a permanant disability that can't be fixed.

No, you don't. Unless you completely tore up your knee or something, you won't be discharged.

I don't think so, but they may delay your training and put you through therapy first.
