Becasue on the video games like if you are amercian you get to use a mp40 for example.

I think they killed the enemy with a knife or somthin like that, then they steal the weapon

They didn't always wait for their own weapons to run out of ammo. Many soldiers on both sides preferred to use enemy weapons for one reason or another. Many Americans preferred the German MP-40 over the Thompson or M3 "Grease Gun", and I remember hearing somewhere that the Germans were big fans of the M1 carbine. A better example would be the Russians, though. Captured weapons were not only used, but were even issued to soldiers in lieu of Russian guns due to inadequate supplies. (Especially in the early days of the war).

Of course. Some German weapons such as early MP40s were much better than any allied equivalent. Lots of allied soldiers actively search for german weapons systems.

Gotta do what you gotta do.
Some modern Americans kind of fancy the 7.62mm AK47 over their 5.56mm rifle too. But mostly they would like to have their old .30 caliber M-14 back. If a bad guy was behind a tree, you could shoot through the tree. That doesn't work so well with the little 5.56mm (.223 caliber).

In an individual battle you would use what was at hand. If your weapon broke and there was an enemy weapon at hand you would grab it.
Machine guns rule the infantry battlefield, whenever one was captured in battle it was almost always used.
But, other than small souvenir weapons, no one kept them. It was just too hard to get ammo and repair & replacement parts.

Well they had the choice between throwing rocks or grabbing the enemies weapon.
Remember back it WW2 American soliders were dying to get a hold of a luger so they could bring it back as a souviner....
