Jesus talked about forgiving people for their sins and giving $$ and food to people in need. He was also against death and war. Ever hear the saying "republicans will tell you what jesus said, but democrats will do what jesus said" ? Well, it is true. So if any hardcore christian supports our president, the war, and votes republican, I believe according to your religion you are going to burn in hell.

just wondering 777: I gave you enough facts. Jesus gave blieved in giving money to poor people, democrats do too. Republicans are the party of money and greed, giving more $$ to people who have enough while the poor suffer. Republicans do not forgive people and demand the death penalty, the list could go on and on. Whether you want to accept these facts or not is up to you. I don't expect you to though, being a narrow-minded conservative

Religion and politics are not the same thing. Religion should affect everything we do in life, including our politics. But to say that true Christians are Democrats and not Republicans is naive regarding both religion and politics.
First of all, neither Dems. nor Repubs. have all the answers. Both parties are fatally flawed. And both parties are more similar than you think...if not in definition, then certainly in practice.
You're confusing the misdeeds of flawed politicians with bad theology. Politicians are people who make grave mistakes, just like anyone else. Don't judge an entire political party by the flaws of a few. By your own argument, Democrats couldn't possibly be "true Christians" because our last president, Democrat Bill Clinton committed adultery and sorely abused the reputation of the Oval Office. And I KNOW Jesus would never do that!
Be careful which brush you use to paint whole groups of people.

So do you think that people should be forced to give to the poor, or they should do it out of their own free will? Forcing people to do good things, e.g. to give money to the poor via taxes, is not conducive to forming virtue. For instance, is the one who is not a drunk because he has never seen or heard of alcohol more virtuous than the drunk man, really?
Also, why do you think that tax cuts are bad? Don't they put more money back into the economy, thus creating more jobs? Aren't people better served by having a job than by receiving handouts?
I'm not nailed down to a specific position on the war, mostly because I don't trust the media and I don't think we're getting the whole story. I'm also not entirely for the death penalty, mainly because I know that our system of justice is not infallible.

I think true Christians vote. - period. I really have a hard time with any political party saying they have claim on everything moral and right. Both sides of the spectrum seem want some really good, right things, and both sides seem to want some really bad, not so right things. I always vote based on individual issues, never on party lines.

If you are a true Christian, you will go to heaven. Salvation can't be lost. As for the teachings of Christ, it was also said that if you give a man a fish, you will feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for life. Which is the greater gift a short term hand out or the ability to take care of yourself?

Actually, according to the Bible, true Christians would remain neutral in political affairs. Be a good citizen by paying taxes, abiding by the laws of the country, etc. but that's it.

You can't define your religion by whether you vote democrat or republican. I vote based on the canditate's stand not their party affiliation.

Todays Democrats are nothing less than Communists. According to comments made by leading Democrats, they will sell their own country to terrorists. I think the Muslims would also vote Democrat...don't you think?

You obviously have not done thorough studies of the Christian religion and are just look at the facts from the surface. Dig a little deeper, don't take everything hardcore liberal and anti-republican media says as facts, and please, please do not make a statement or assumption unless you have actual facts to back it up.
P.S.
I happened to miss that little commandment about voting democrat or go to hell. Could you please point me to that reference in the Bible?
