They are used to being in the majority, and I would imagine this is the first time that many of them are exposed to people outside of their belief system. Many people are naturally threatened by change, and they don't like it. Instead of being calm or taking the chance to learn and expand one's life-experiences, they attack. This may help some of them assert themselves or feel "correct."
With that in mind, I think us non-Christians should try and set a good example. However, if someone is being very hateful and rude, I would recommend reporting the abuse.

Christians are taught from day one that their belief system is the only "true" religion, and anyone who doesn't believe the same is bad and evil. They are also taught to "show everyone else the err of their ways". Because of being taught to act and think a certain way, most people don't know how to be openminded to anything else.
I have met Christians who are not like that but they are a rare species.

I apologize for the actions of any uneducated and foolish "Christians" who have asked/ answered questions in such a way that caused you to feel such as you have. I know of and have seen questions asked/ answered by Christians that just make me sick- and I am a Christians. I wish some of these people would spend time reading the Bible and secular books as well to educate themselves.
However, please try not to label Christians as a whole based on the actions of some stupid ones who stand out like a sore thumb.

I don't know where you get that idea. I don't agree. I personally haven't told anyone with beliefs other than my own they don't belong here.
What I do see is people asking questions and getting different opinions.
Why is it that Christians get blasted for expressing their beliefs, even if you don't agree with it?
I'm not threatened by any opinion expressed here. If you have a belief, prepare to defend it, and express why you believe what you believe. That's what this is all about. If you don't like being challenged, then maybe this forum isn't for you.

It doesn't and I respect all other thoughts, for unlike some Christians which really is just their doctrine or dogma, not CHRISTIANITY as a whole, I know that there are more than their way to God. Forgive those that are over jealous of their ideals, please try and remember, they love what they have embraced and so badly want others to feel the joy they themselves feel.
They can sometimes be rude, crude and down right mean, but of the majority of Christians, they embrace all and include all under the divine tent of God's love.

The Religion and Spirituality forum isn't just for Christians, nor do Christians think that it is just for them. I have seen many respectful questions about Paganism, Wicca, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and even Zoroasterism.

Oh God...to the first answer....enough with the "burn in hell" ****....why don't you try and bring unbelievers to Christ by witnessing to them (if they want you to.....any other time they just wouldn't be open for the experience) and stop telling them they will "burn in hell" for being the way they are....people live and learn and unfortunately...people die too quickly to realize that...I'm a Christian and will outwardly profess to be one and that I love God/Jesus....because I do, but I won't be in judgement over someone because of the fact that they are not...everyone has to make their own decisions and not be forced into anything, otherwise it's not real.....and I'm sorry....not just "christians" think this place is for them....I see "muslim" stuff on here all the time....so lay off it.

Basically they do it indirectly on Yahoo Answers for money. All religious preachers just pump their one theory (God exists) down our throats.
When the science community makes a discovery or modifies a theory they publish a paper for all to view, speculate on, and debate. Invariably such discoveries open up our simplistic minds and expand our horizons. Examples would be the works of Einstein and Hawking, to name a very small sample.
So why do preachers have to continually pump their one theory (God exists) down our throats. Why do they stand on street corners and hand out leaflets, yell at passers by, gather huge crowds and push unsuspecting victims over in the belief they will be cured of whatever mental or physical ailment invades them, if they just believe in the theory of God.
Why can’t the believers of religious theory just behave in a decent manner, in much the same way as the scientific community does. The answer to all of these questions is simple. They know their theory of God is wrong, and saturation mental and verbal bombardment is the only way they can convince people, and they do it directly or indirectly for money.
For far too long we have been inundated with religious preachers knocking on doors, screaming on street corners, babbling in church, and worst of all, using TV to ram their beliefs down our throats and those of our children. Prophets or profits? I think the answer is obvious. Hands raised upwards, then into the pockets, let’s give money money money.
A little old lady comes on stage, push her forehead, she falls over and low and behold, she’s cured of her mental and physical woes. Hands raised again, yep you’re on to it, let’s give more money money money. Check out the preachers shiny white teeth as they count their gold.
Here’s the truth. Sam has a lunatic in his head, crippled legs, done his bit for the country, but Sam manages to come on stage smiling, gets pushed over, falls flat on his rear end and he’s still got a lunatic in his head, and he’s still a cripple. Guess what, no money money money. That’s the real truth. All of the magic cures are just fake stage plays, and they do it for money, money, money.

Well, they think they know best. They are totally close-minded when it comes to beliefs. They feel that if you don't think the exact same way that you will suffer for all eternity in Hell.
