Besides the beta version of Windows Vista, I don't know any other Windows operating systems which is free to download and test. You can download Windows Vista from Microsoft download center or Betanews.com (http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Microsoft_Windows_Vista_English_32bit/1149728719/1)

However, you can use virtual software to use other non-Windows operating system, such as Ubuntu or Linux. Both Microsoft and VMWare provide free virtual software.

1. Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6d58729d-dfa8-40bf-afaf-20bcb7f01cd1&DisplayLang=en)

2. VMware (http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/VMware_Server_for_Windows/1139242993/1)
