It's my first wedding that I will be attending and I have no clue what to wear. Are there any no-no's I should be aware of?

Standard dress for a guy at a wedding is a suit and tie or dress pants/tie/blazer. If you're expected to dress any fancier the invitation should say something like "black tie affair." Actually this should be the case for any non-standard wedding attire like if it's a beach wedding there should be a note along with the invitation indicating "casual summer attire" or something like that.

Evening weddings tend to be more formal so if you have a range of suits that you can pick from, go with a darker and more tailored suit.

If it's a daytime event and any part of it is taking place outside you could go for a linen suit or definitely a light colored suit such as tan or beige.

The rule my husband goes by is always wear a suit and tie unless otherwise instructed. :)

If you don't know how formal the wedding is going to be, take a look at the invitation. Is it embossed on nice, thick paper, with double envelopes, or printed out on a computer? That might give you a clue. Also, evening weddings are generally more formal than daytime ones. You can always ask. (Probably best to ask a woman, not a guy friend.) For a more casual wedding, church type clothes are probably fine. Tie optional. Button-down shirt. Probably best to avoid jeans and shorts. No tennis shoes! For a formal wedding, do wear a tie, a suit jacket maybe. Very formal wedding- suit or tux (most weddings are not this formal). If this is a friend of yours, you probably know them well enough to know what type of wedding they would have (although, this is more of the bride's decision than the groom's, so be careful).

Are there any dress requirements listed on the invitation.

It all depends. In almost any wedding, you should wear dress slacks and a nice shirt. If it's an evening ceremony it's usualy a more formal dress code, like a suit and tie. Unless it is a theme wedding, such as a medieval wedding. If in doubt, call the mother of the bride or groom or someone else in the wedding party and ask them.

The worst I ever saw was one sister of the bride who wore her best Pepsi Spandex pants and tank top to her sister's wedding, but made sure she put on extra jewelry.

Regarding guy's clothes. DON'T go in blue jeans and T-shirt. That's tacky. UNLESS that is what the bride and groom want you to wear.

If the wedding is before 4 o'clock, wear a light colored suit, (tan, khaki, whatever) After 4, you wear a dark colored suit (brown, gray, black, navy blue) Ofcourse wear the full suit, with a tie and everything. It also depends on how casual the wedding is....if it's on a beach, wear khaki pants and a button up shirt, something nice and clean but not to serious, ya know? Good luck, god bless.

A suit or "business casual". It depends on the time of day and time of year. Some weddings are more formal than others, but you can't go wrong with a suit...just don't wear a black suit unless it's an evening wedding.

You should be fine with some dressy slacks, button-up shirt, dress shoes. You can even go so far as to wear a tie (highly recommended) and a suit-coat. If it is a "formal" event, wear your best suit (or borrow one).

Don't wear jeans, a t-shirt or sneakers. Don't wear overalls or coveralls (I have actually seen someone do this at a wedding). And if you wear a hat, take it off indoors.

Have fun.

For a formal wedding, a good suit is never a bad bet. If it is a more casual event, try to dress one step down from the groom & groomsmen. If you're not sure, you can always ask what would be appropriate.

I usually wear a dark gray suit, white shirt, dark tie, black dress shoes (oxfords) and black dress socks (I hate these trendy "colorful" dress socks). Most guys at the wedding will be wearing this so you should be ok.

A straw hat and bib overalls are a nice combo. That's what my cousin Rufus wore when he married my sister Earlene.

Something formal like this would be nice.
