You can have his parental rights terminated, but he will still be on the birth certificate because he is the father. You'll need to get an attorney to this, but it can be done.

He'll always be on the birth certificate because he is still technically her father, as far as DNA goes. You can get a lawyer to see about getting any parental rights waived and taken away from him, but that's completely different.

The only way they will alter a birth certificate and take a name off is if it is proven the guy who signed it is not the biological father...
My friend went through this is the 90's...
His girlfriend had a child, he signed..his family wanted a paternity test..
guess what, it was not his kid, so he paid and had his name taken off...

I wouldn't think you could...no matter if he's a louse or not, he's still the biological father.
See what you can do though with re: to his rights to the child, visitation, etc...that can probably be something you can do something about.

people don't deserve a lot of things, but your baby deserves to know who the parents are- trust me- this baby will eventually ask questions-if he's been gone this long he probably won't come back-be the better person

dont know about the states, in the uk its very hard to remove name most unmarried mums keep mums surname, only a few dont put his name on because its easier to add later than remove. see a solicitor.

i believe you can, just have to go to court if im not mistaken, my friend is doing the same thing, now i dont know exactly what you have to do but i sure hope someone else does..liolo
