there are games you can play with him and you can read to him everyday. Mostly you love and attention is more then enough, some things can't be rushed (as I am finding out myself with my 8 month old).
There is a great free site for week to week deployment and fun games you can play with your baby and a whole lot more. Go to www.babycenter.com
I hope that helps and don't put the pressure on you or your baby. I am sure your are taking great care of him.
Good luck and mostly just have fun with it (parenting) the harder times are later.

By example and by simply talking to him. In case of potty training, when you think he is about due, sit him on his potty (just be sure it is comfortable, doesn't cut into his bottom (as some pots will))
You can have him clean before he turns 1
It is NEVER to early to teach them!
I see some of the other answers, these are the type of people who can't manage a 3 or 4 years old, because they missed teaching them early enough.
This is a problem that was started with 'Dr Spock' in the 50s (and he recently admitted that he was an idiot, that he didn't know what he was talking about).
These answerers want to just play, and they don't even play at stuff that teaches the kids useful things. Which is very selfish.
Even under 1, kids are much smarter that most 'grown ups' give them credit for. And by the time the are 2 and three, THEY run the show and still sh*t their diapers. Stupid and unnecessary.
And then it is really tough.
Over 1% of our population is in prison. I blame the parents who didn't think it was necessary to teach their children early. Now they get 'educated' by prison personnel. MUCH better... (sic)

At 7 months old, they are sponges. You can teach him some simple signs now. He may not repeat any for a couple months, though. Basically, just talk to him and read to him. Don't use baby talk. Tell him what things are and sing songs to him. Don't expect him to sit for long periods of time. It is great that you want to work with your son.

Just keep repeating things in a happy voice to him he'll soon pick it up. Just don't push it, let him do it at his own pace. It is said that sign language is the easiest language for a young baby to learn and they pick it up really quickly, quicker than the spoken word. I think sign for children should b compulsory.

Lady, he's 7 months old for pity's sake, let him be a baby he's not going to be one much longer. Enjoy your time with him. What do you want him to be in Harvard at 5?

Babies can't eve say more than ba pa, ma na at that age, developmentally they just can't.

Slow down. Sing him songs, read to him, talk to him-no baby talk, play with him but don't expect him to be a little genius. Those are the kids who eventually burn out when they're teenagers because their parents have unrealistic and too high expectations of them.

I would recommend just playing and talking with your child. It's the best way to teach them that you love them and that's what you need to teach them first. The rest will come. Children are very observant...they learn alot more than we think they do.

You can't rush him. He will get the hang of things as he gets a little older. As far as teaching him how to talk and say momma and daddy... repitition is the key...

Read, read, and more reading. A child should have been read 5000 stories by the time he or she enters kindergarten. It is the best thing you can do for your child.
