Okay, everyone. There is so much misinformation out there about other beliefs. Here is a chance to tell something positive about your particular religious beliefs. Tell us in your own words, the five best things about your religious beliefs and which religion you are part of. If your religion has subcategories (such as Christian, or Muslim), please let us know which sect, or type of church, etc you go to.
Thanks!
But the only rule is that you must be respectful in your post of any other beliefs. You don't have to agree with them, just don't cut them down.

Just so you know, I'm a former fundamentalist Christian who is Pentecostal at heart, but attends a Willow Creek style church.
1. The unconditional love of God offers 70x7 chances for forgiveness.
2. My beliefs teach that our heavenly father looks on the heart, not on the outward appearance.
3. That we are to walk in the fruit of the spirit which are love, joy, peace, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperence.
4. That we have an advocate through our heavenly father who loved us enough to want us to live with him for eternity, and he offers us an opportunity to live with him.
5. That we have free will to choose what we want. But we are also responsible for our own choices.

1) the ability to truly understand, and accept Jesus as my Savior
2) the ability to be Justified of all sins past, present and future
3) the ability to love myself, regardless of mistakes that i've made, or will make
4) the ability to continue searching, learning, to continuously become a Better Me
5) the ability to *share* this with others...not Force, but share, and spread love thru kindness, respect, and learning and teaching.
I say these are all Abilities, because not many people take advantage of these abilities, even though they have accepted their religions. truly feeling accepted, forgiven, and loved regardless of the past is an awesome feeling. we should treat eachother that way, because only thru knowledge and understanding can we share what all the positive things in life are, and learn from the negatives. :)

I'm a Pagan, and these are some nice things about my path.
1. Tolerance is key. I will not say my beliefs should infringe over someone else's, as everyone must find a path that suits him/her. As long as there is no harm, this works well. I respect that everyone can choose a religious path of their own, and I hope that others respect mine as well.
2. Altruism if very important. I feel that we need to be selfless to help with world progress.
3. There is an immortal soul. I believe there is an afterlife, and everyone is able to go there. I feel we will be judged according to our actions on earth, not the religion we belonged to in life. There may be reincarnation, but the Karmic retribution occurs in the lifetime, not in the following. Everyone is responsible for her/his actions!
4. This path requires a lot of education and research. As a Pagan, I am always learning. I am learning about what works for me, and I learn about other people's beliefs as well. I am not a fan of ignorance, and I wish that more people would learn about the history of their religions as well and others from a historical-critical and critical-empathetic view points.
5. My religious celebration (holidays, meditation) is for me and my connection with the Divine. This is a time of safety and importance, which is very personal.

Jewish
1) that everyone knows each other or someone who knows someone who you know. It makes you feel like a family.
2) that we know that everything is good. There are no mitzvos that we do that don't make sense in the long run.
3) (one of my personal favorites) that if you say the name R' Yaakov (example) to anyone who's pretty religious, no matter which country he's from, he knows about whom you are sspeaking. (R' Yaakov is a great rabbi who lived about 50 years ago)
4)that we all have the same beliefs in the big picture. Even if there's a fight (example) between two Jewish groups in the neighberhood, there are some thgings that are agreed by everyone. Certain ways to talk, act, etc.
5)that we all speak the same general language. no matter what country you're in, you'll always find a Jew who speaks Hebrew\Yiddish\Aramaic.
Great question!

My Catholic faith:
1) The Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist (Holy Communion)
2) Oldest Christian religion
3) My religion has someone "in charge." (the pope)
4) It is the most "profound" religion with writings and teachings and traditions surpassing all other religions. No other religion has so much information.
5) It is the surest way to Heaven. We have 7 Sacraments and various sacramentals to help us get to Heaven (Infant Baptism(removes orginal sin), Communion (puts Christ in us and heals us of venial sins), Confession (heals our troubled souls and gives us direction), Matrimony (allows us to love another who will help us get to Heaven and allows us to produce Children who will be heirs of Heaven), Holy Orders (allows us to devote ourselves fully to God if we choose and if we are men, we can be a priest who will "prefect" the Eucharist), Extreme Unction or the Last Rites (strengthen's the soul in time of Death and it sometimes heals the body).
The Sacramentals include Holy Water which has the power to remit veniel sins (less serious sins), Holy Oil (heals the mind and protects against temptations), The Brown Scapular that is worn over the shoulders (You have to be living a Christ like life inorder to be saved from hell....the brown scapular has this promise: Whosoever dies wearing this scapular shall not suffer eternal fire.) The Rosary : the prayerful meditation of the life of Christ, and many other things.

spiritualism
we have a hall that isn't fancy and is more like a meeting hall than a church
we don't read from a book but the service consists of prayer , hymns , an address ( speech ) and a mediumship demonstration
although we believe in a creator , each person I'm sure has their own personal idea of what god is to them ... in prayer we would say perhaps " all that is love " rather than give the creator a name
we work with science in proving life after death , through spirit communications
and there is no judgement , and everyone is welcome from any denomination
its just beautiful xx

I love your question!
1- Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)! The manners, kindness and compassion that Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) teaches us through his actions and sayings (whether it's with fellow Muslims, Parents/Relatives, Non-Muslims, Orphans, Poor people, POW, etc..). It helps me become a better person personally and with other people!
He was by far the most remarkable man that ever set foot on this earth. He preached a religion, founded a state, built a nation, laid down a moral code, initiated numberless social and political reforms, established a dynamic and powerful society to practice and represent his teachings, and he revolutionized the worlds of human thought and human action for all time. He accomplished all these wonders in the unbelievably short span of twenty-three years. the whole of the Arabian Peninsula had changes from paganism and idol worship to the worship of One God; from tribal quarrels and wars to national solidarity and cohesion; from drunkenness and debauchery to sobriety and piety; from lawlessness and anarchy to disciplined living; from utter moral bankruptcy to the highest standards of moral excellence. Human history has never known such a complete transformation of a people or a place before or since.
The Encyclopedia Britannica calls him “the most successful of all religious personalities of the world.” George Bernard Shaw said, “if Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) were alive today, he would succeed in solving all those problems which threaten to destroy human civilization in our times.” Thomas Carlyle was amazed as to how one man, single-handedly, could weld warring tribes and wandering Bedouins into a most powerful and civilized nation in less than two decades.
Indeed no other human being ever accomplished so much, in such diverse fields of human thought and behavior, in so limited a space of time, as did Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He was a religious teacher, a social reformer, a moral guide, a political thinker, a military genius, an administrative colossus, a faithful friend, a wonderful companion, a devoted husband, a loving father-all in one. No other man in history ever excelled or equaled him in any of these difficult departments of life.
Muhammad was a man with a noble and exalted mission -and his unique mission was to unite humanity in the worship of the One and only God and to teach them the way to honest and upright living in accordance with the laws and commands of God. He always described himself as a messenger and servant of God, as indeed every single action and movement of his proclaimed him to be.
Today, after the lapse of some 1400 years, the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), have survived without the slightest loss, alteration or interpolation. Today they offer the same undying hope for treating mankind’s many ills which they did when Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was alive. This is our honest claim and this is the inescapable conclusion forced upon us by a critical and unbiased study of history.
2- God is always there for you. At home, at work, in the car, at the Mosque... Wherever you are! You don't need anyone to "connect" you to God, He's always there for whatever you need Him :)
3- Equality between men and women. Yes people Islam equalizes between men and women! Surprise surprise!
4- Scientific facts and miracles found in preforming the Five Daily Prayers and in the Qur'an (many people are "discovering" these scientific facts and miracles today when in fact it's been in the Qur'an since forever!)
5- The spirituality in Islam! Ramadan, Laylat al Kadr, Reading the Qur'an, The Pilgrim and the Five Daily Prayers!
I'm a proud Sunni Muslim :)
