Although there doesn't seem to be any real harm in consenting adults living the way they please, I think in the long run legalized polygamy would significantly and adversely affect society.
Imagine if the top 50% of men (tall, athletic, good looking, or rich) each took two wives, leaving none for the bottom 50%. Society now has 50% of men unmarried. These men would be more likely to become unmotivated, resentful, envious, anti-social, etc. Presumably they still need a sexual outlet, so either marital infidelity will increase, or prostitution, or homesexuality...? Not having marital ties, would they be more likely to be criminal, mentally ill, or stressed out/unhappy?
Anyway, I think the status quo of "there is someone for everyone" is a fundamental building block of a strong society. Everyone needs companionship - not sure I want to be messing around with that!

Polygamy is illegal in most countries... any alternative arrangement would have to be okay with everyone before I'd think it was all right...
But you're missing something important here. If a man is married, then he's probably gotten married in one of those places where you can, legally, only marry one woman. And he probably stood up in front of God and a bunch of people and promised to be faithful and loving to his WIFE until he dies.
I think the problem here isn't the possibility of a multi-amorous relationship, I think the problem is that the man's broken his word to his wife. If she's okay with it, then who am I to judge? If she's not, then that's a problem he can only solve with lots and lots of alimony. =)

You dont need to marry the other woman... just move her in with you and the wife (if the wife agrees). It's not ''cheating'' because the wife agrees to it. Thats the difference. So many people cheat because their wives/husbands would leave them if they found out... can't blame them though. I would personally shoot my husband first, but hey... whatever floats your boat. People already to have multi relationships like that here in America. I mean, Hugh Heifner has 1 wife and 4 girls friends....

No man needs 2 wives. Every married women needs 2 husbands to do the job of one. If anything it should be women taking on more than 1.

Having an affair (cheating) is way different than wanting to have more than one wife. I love married men, but there is no way I would ever be considered his wife or #2.

Why on Earth would a woman want to share her bed, man and wealth with another woman just for sexual purposes? I feel if a man asks this of his wife, then she should have the same right to ask another man into their marriage. If she gets this right, I bet her man would be singing a different tune.

Well If, #1 wife accepts the arrangement, I say she's (they) are lesbians and #1 and #2 are also BI?
I see adultery and one happy guy.
But check with a lawyer.

you think they will be happy together. but problems will come the day after that. in love 2 is a company but 3 is a crowd load of sh*t. jealousy will drive every body mad. I've been in some countrie that allows multiple wives. none of them are happy.

I really do not believe that justice can be achieved in a polygamous marriage. With two wives, it seems to me that one of them would receive less love and less caring than the other. And, over time, I think she would become hurt and withdrawn.
