Why would they say that?

I am 23 years old.

I have lived on my own since 18 and have had a full time job since I graduated high school.

I put myself thru college and landed an amazing job in accounting.

I have NEVER asked for money from anyone.

I have been continually employed since I was 15 years old.

I own a house that will be paid off next year.

I have two brand new cars paid off.

I have traveled all over the United States.

I have never done drugs, smoked or partied.

I never drink.

I have been with my husband for 5 years and he is the only sexual partner I have ever had.

I am a good friend and an even better sister, daughter and wife.

I ask questions about wanting to start a family with my husband and I get a bunch of responses about how I am too immature at 23 to be a mom.

How many 30 year olds have accomplished what I have???

I am sick of being judged by my age! I don't even act like I am in my early 20's!

I had my kids at 23, My wife and I were married a year and 3 months earlier, but we were together since we were 19. We are 30 now with 2 kids still married, still very happy. Many people in life will try to influence your life decisions, but remember you have to live with them. Decide on your own if your mature enough for children. Kids are no joke. don't worry about what you have or have not experienced in life. those things don't make you mature. Just remember that you will live for your children and not just your marriage anymore. (greatest decision we ever made was to have children)
Good Luck

i've had the same response. I had my first child at 19 (married) a year later we bought our house had my second child a week before i turned 22 (8 weeks ago) we own our own compeny. I do look young for being 22 (like maybe i'm 17 or 18) But I have people come up to me and say oh those kids are cute you must have fun babysitting them. I say no there mine and they say oh when did you start having kids like 15? I just brush it off, people need to mind there own business. You sound more mature than some 40 years old. Who cares what they think it's you and your husbands choice on having a child no one elses. Plus maybe these responses are coming to you out of jealousy???

whilst male and woman reproductive cells are fused at the same time the infant is a zygote. After the degree of being a zygote the infant will become an embryo. The embryo will become a fetus. I first heard the term zygote whilst i grow to be in 4th or 5th grade for the period of wellbeing type. I only remembered the term and that i assumed i might share the information. i've got self assurance existence starts off at theory and that i'm professional existence.

Opinions are like a**holes...everybody has one. You haven't been on your own since 18-you said that you have been with your husband for five years, so you really were not on your own. Not that it matters, because you really seem to have accomplished a lot.
When you stop listening to other people, then and only then, will you be mature enough to make the decision about starting a family.
People will ALWAYS have something to say about everything. Digest the helpful advice and spit out the rest.

I am in my 30's and just now finishing college, so you definitely have accomplished a lot, and good for you. YOu should be proud of yourself and not worry what other people think. I had my children in my 20's, I was 19 with my first born and wasn't taken seriously, but you have to consider the source and do what you know you and your husband are ready for. Good Luck!

You dont sound to be immature .
May be people are trying to say you are young and need to have this time for yourself and husband.
Once you have a child, you cant go back. It is responsibility more than you propably think it is.
And comparing the age women have kids now (in their 30ties)
indeed you look young at 23!
But if you want a child , have a child!

First of all, congratulations on your financial and substance-related stability! Not many people can honestly say they have that impressive a record. I think you are old and definitely mature enough to start a family; ask away about anything you would like advice about, and report and/or ignore any comments about immaturity. Good luck on having kids!

You sound like you are completely responsible and ready for a baby. Who cares what people say. Everyone wants to put everyone else down to make themselves feel better. I'm sure you will be a great mom and provide a great environment for your child. Keep up the good work and good luck with your family!

Ignore anyone who says that kind of thing to you!!! I am amazed at what you have accomplished and agree that not many people older than you could say 1/3 of what you have accomplished! Screw them and do what your heart and hubby decide!! You sound like an intelligent 23 yr old lady and any baby/child would be lucky to have you as his Mom!! good luck!!!

From what you have shared it would seem that you are certainly more mature than other 23 years old. This decision to have a child is between you and your husband and no one else. It would seem that you have a lot of common sense and motivation and I''ll bet you would make a terrific mother, especially if you put as much energy and heart into it as you have with everything else you have accomplished so far! Happy baby!
