Coughing can be a symptom of numerous problems such as heartworm, congestive heart failure, lung infections. It would be really hard to tell you what can be done for him without knowing the cause.

The best bet is to take your dog to the vet. They can run tests to determine the problem. Good luck.

Take him to the vet, my dog was recently diagnosed w/bronchitis and has had kennel cough in the past. The only way to clear something like that up is antibiotics. Take him to the vet

Depending upon his age and if he's been boarded, or groomed it could be anything from kennel cough to heartworms. If he just started in the last few minutes he could have something stuck in his throat. He really needs to see a vet.

Excessive coughing could be a sign of something very serious, including heartworm. Take him to the vet and have them run some tests.

Open your dogs mouth and see if you can see anything stuck in its mouth or throat. If you can see something then try and grab it with your fingers, if not then I think you should take him to the Vet.
