Do they just throw them away, or do they give them to some sort of facility that makes dentures or something.

Sometimes the patient asks if they can have their teeth, so I give them to them. Some just want them as a keepsake. Some say that they are going to take them home and smash them with a hammer to even the score. Some say that they are going to show their extracted teeth to their children to convince them to brush better.

Sometimes dental students ask, "Do you have any extracted teeth that I can use for school? By the way, they can't have anything wrong with them."

Most teeth in my NJ office go into a container with chemicals to sterilize them and once a year my medical waste hauler picks up that container with my other stuff. They end up in an incinerator somewhere. I don't know how well teeth burn, but the crumbs and ashes that are left are no longer a threat to the good people of the world. Thank God! We all know what a health hazard extracted teeth posed prior to these practices.

The teeth get throw away, or sometimes if they are wisdom teeth with no cavities they are donated to dental assisting programs to learn how to do sealants! They are not used for denture, the teeth in dentures are acrylic!

I'm sure some just throw them in the bin but here where I live many dental clinics store them in a jar and several times a year they are collected and used at a dental training school.

dentures are not made of other peoples teeth...YUCK

Most are simply thrown away in bio-hazard, some are saved and given to dental students to use as guinea pig teeth.. (they gotta practice on something before they are working in someones mouth)

Some patients, especially kids, like to keep them.

all dentist are supposed to safely dispose caries effect tooth in formolin or hydrogen peroxide these teeth are later incinerated. if extrated tooth is health many dental colleges take them as models for study but again teeth are cleaned and disinfected to avoid any possible infection.

Usually, they are thrown away, but sometimes the dentist will save them so that way when he/she goes to a continuing education class, they have a tooth to work on.

Leave them out for the tooth fairy. That's why they're so rich.
