She could have IBD, an inflammation of the small intestine like my cat did. This can be caused by an inability to process dry food or food with a lot of corn protein in it. Of course there are other causes, but this disease is not uncommon and it's easy to control with a different diet and perhaps some steroids.

If she loses too much weight she will develop fatty liver disease. This WILL happen no matter is what causing the appetite loss. This is ironically named but is due to weight loss and the body trying to use up all of its fat store. Fat clogs the liver of the cat and they die of liver failure.Your cat can be critical in no time. You should do a search on "fatty liver disease".

Take her to the vet right away, and have blood tests or whatever they suggest. This can be costly, but it's worth it to get the full workup and save the cat if possible. Someone below suggested Nutrical and that's good. Cats often don't rally act like they are sick until it's too late. This weight loss is a very serious symptom.

Good luck!

When you don't know what to do for your pet, ask yourself, What would make me not want to eat? If I felt sick? What would I do if I felt sick? I would go to a doctor. Please take her to a vet, noone can diagnose your cat over the internet, not even a vet. If you ever don't know what the problem is or what to do, consult a vet.

Having said that, she could have an obstruction, a virus, cancer, there are many things it might be and only a vet can tell you for sure.

Not eating for more than 24 hours can lead to hepatic lipidosis, a liver disease which can be fatal.

"Skinny" is not necessarily bad for a cat and I suggest you check her mouth. Are there any lumps in there? Does she have a bright red line on the gums close to the teeth?

Kitties with a sore mouth don't want to eat very much, especially if it's hard, dry food.

If there are any "symptoms" in her mouth and around her teeth she will need to have a dental cleaning from a vet.

Some cats, like some people, are very prone to dental disease. So check it out.

Sometimes cats develop blockages in their tummies because of hairballs. Sometimes the blockage is further down in their digestive tracts. Either way, it needs to be moved. Give her some hairball medicine from over the counter or from the vet. If she does not make a change in a day or so after the hairball medicine, you must bring her to the Vet.

If a cat doesn't eat for just 2 days, it can become very ill. It's liver stops functioning properly and essentially poisons itself. There are many other possible reasons for her not eating, take her to the vet, she is dependent on you for help.

You should take her to the vet right away. It could be anything from a fixable condition like a painful tooth problem, to something really bad like mouth cancer (not to scare you but that's what one of mine got last year). if she is sick, there might be things could still eat: my Alexander would eat soft food, lap up chicken broth and even lap up olive oil when regular food hurt his mouth too much. Good luck and I hope she's got something that the vet can quickly cure.

How long has this been going on? How is she acting? Is she using the litter box? Have you tried giving her some cooked chicken?
I think you should take her to the vet. It could be a number of things including hyperthyroidism, or diabetes. She deserves good care.
Good luck with Lizzie!

Hi Nicole...this sounds difficult to diagnose as one needs more information regarding her overall eating habits in the past. Additionally, if you believe she is getting thin a vet would be better suited to run some tests (e.g. blood work) to get her properly treated.

there is a good chance she has (spelling?) pleurousy, a cat lukemia. I love my cats and have lost a few cats and kittens to it. If you can afford a vet call I'd take her. If you can't, I don't know what to tell you. because I tried everything. and they still didn't make it. Sorry.. I know it bites...

Maybe she needs a different food. I really don't know, but I suggest a different cat food for a while. If it doesn't work. I'm sorry.
