Christ told his disciples that there were to be no rulers among them. The greatest would be the servant.

Then, when John recorded his vision from the Isle of Patmos, Christ said that he did not like that a couple of the churches were becoming involved in the deeds of the Nicolaitanes.

The word Nicolaitan means, to lord over the congregation.

My question is, are there any who believe that the present day Christian church with pastors teaching people could possibly be doing exactly what Christ did not want?

Isn't the Holy Spirit supposed to be our teacher after the new covenant? (Jer. 31:34)

And indeed He gave some to be apostles; and some prophets; and some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers;
with a view to the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ,

Bingo-----YOU WIN the PRIZE.

The "CHURCH" is the Born-Again Human Being's who make up the BODY of JESUS CHRIST, on the EARTH.
At Every Assembling and Gathering, The HOLY SPIRIT should be in Charge----and ALL of us has a part in the Gathering's and Assembling's According to the Leading and Guiding of the HOLY SPIRIT. GOD gave us the Five Fold Ministry to Perfect the Saint's (The Body of Christ).
Ain't nothing wrong with meeting in the same Building Sunday after Sunday IF THE HOLY SPIRIT is in Charge at Each Gathering and Assembling, and not Religion.

The pastor is not your dictator. He is your teacher, just as Christ was a teacher and the Holy Spirit is your guide. The Bible tells us that a man should love his wife as Christ loved the church. We are to assemble in church and with all things there is an authority just as the apostles were authorities of Christ and helped form and lead those churches. A priest that tells you to confess your sins before him, or tells you what the Bible says, of a mula that dictates you blow yourself up in the name of Allah is a dictator and that's not what Christ wanted.

As long as your pastor tells you to read your Bible and gives you scripture in which he bases his messages, then he's not dictatcing, he's guiding. There is a difference.

I don't know but what I know is that you are suppose to go to church to work for the lord by participating in one of the ministries in the church, and the holy spirit is the something that happens when you feel happy about a blessing or something that happens in your family or etc. But always remember about the father, the son, and the holy spirit.

I'd have to agree with you about the Nicolaitanes but Pastors aren't Lord's over us they are just teachers. Some may think they are high and mighty but the individual church needs to fix that.

What would you suggest we do anyway?

In fairness, I would say someone has to do the talking. The Holy Spirit is supposed to give them the words and in that way does the teaching, but doesn't actually physically come down and do the talking itself, so the priest/pastor/elder/rabbi/sheik/etc. is necessary to get the physical act of talking done.

I am with you all the way....the church is designed as a ''body'' where all the Christian fellowship have different roles, but none ''rule'' OVER any of the others. I believe Christ would be disappointed over the design of the present day church structure.

and, poipman1, I'm sorry, I had to report you....that was VERY offensive!

i admire what you attempt to assert right here yet i won't be ready to circulate alongside with the analogy. The Holy Spirit enters our bodies no longer the soul of believers. And He does not direction by using us as blood by using our veins. I see it greater like the Holy Spirit taking on residency interior a house (or temple which we are) and setting up housework. The greater we enable Him to do His activity the greater effectual we are for it. The purifier He makes us the greater effectual we characterize the owner which will make us greater desireable to others. now and lower back analogies help and now and lower back they preclude. distinctive human beings whilst witnessing will ask yet another, "might you go with to ask Jesus into your heart." this might even make youthful infants ask ... Will He in good shape? and adults ... is this guy or woman whacked out? from time to time i've got seen infants worrying via the possibility of Jesus attempting to get of their heart. i think of we ought to truly evaluate the connotation of ways any anaolgy we use will impression the hearer.

No. The Scripture says, "For how can they hear without a preacher?" We have a fivefold ministry at our disposal with pastors, prophets, teachers, evangelists, and music. The Word is our teacher and guide, but the ministry helps us concentrate and direct our worship through other means besides prayer...

actually those what they so-called leaders are supposed to be servants...its sad but true that some church members start to become a servant to their leaders not with Christ...and church become like a close dwelling of believers where God is inside, closed doors...Jesus went through different places so as his disciples to teach the good news...so that is what we are supposed to do...share the salvation to those hasnt have it, and let the Word be heard to those who hasnt heard it...
