You do not have to deal with depression all by yourself! there has to be a counceling center in your area where you can go. If you can not afford that, go to your local clinic. they have low dosage anti depressants/anti anxiety meds that you DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE FOREVER, that WILL help. It will level you off and allow you to think clearer, and see why you are feeling the way you do. I took them for 6 weeks and it has been 7 yrs since I have taken them. I do not need them, at the time I did, was going through a rough time, mom died etc. You aren't a druggie by taking them, and you will all of a sudden gain the mental confidence that has been lacking. I am not promoting the pharmacutial companies by no means, but stress is a bit**! and sometimes you just have to have a little help, it doesn't mean your nuts. You'll see I am not lying. I don't need anything now!!!! I'll tell you to go f yourself, where before i'd cry..not no more!!!

What in your life makes you sad?? You must look into your life and write a list of what makes you happy, do 2 columns and do the same for what makes you sad. Go about removing those things that make you sad. It should work if you don't think that you need a boost from some medication.

It may be worth trying some anti depressants as it's not YOU that is depressed, it may be your body not producing enough serotonin which will make you sad whatever you try to do!

You may be bipolar check with your local mental health professional for testing. Bipolar is a chemical imbalance in the brain which release to much, "happy chemicals or vise verse" (simplified) only a qualified individual may assess this, but I highly recommend a second opinion as I think at least the state tends to use this diagnosis to medicate problems.

Moods are quite normal. However if the mood swings are extreme then you might be bi-polar (manic-depressive) in which case you should seek medical help and some counselling.
It is an illness like any other and needs attention. Otherwise try exercising. That works wonders - so I'm told.

Just check with a psychiatrist. You may have bipolar. If so, you should atleast be aware of the symptoms to save yourself from sudden catastrophe. To beat depression ( If u r really suffering from it. It is actually a severe desease caused by imbalance of hormones) do something creative whose results u can visualise with in a short period(apart from taking medicine). I myself program. I decide my own projects and work on it. Presently creating a website to help mentally distressed people. You may join me if you are a good content writer / can do nice sketches /
can draw cartoons or interested in programming. Write me at brainfever07@gmail.com if u please.

If you feel depressed at times, and happy at others, it may indeed be Bipolar I Disorder (as opposed to Bipolar II Disorder). Treatment for this disorder, pharmacologically, would likely start with Lithium which is the benchmark medication for Bipolar treatment. Speak with your PCP (primary care physician...your doctor) and ask him/her what he/she thinks. There are many considerations, such as drug interactions and the absolute necessity to monitor your blood serum levels of lithium. However, those things aside, you may just find that you can stabilize your mood.

Why don't you believe in the meds? I used to be against it too, until I started my zoloft. I've been on it for about two years now. (im 16 years old) And i'm a totally new person because of it. My depression isn't NEARLY as bad as it used to be. Go to the doc and get on Zoloft! It's just that easy.

Everyone has ups and downs, but if your downs are farther down than what is normal for you.... Try and find the cause of the depression, instead of trying to treat a symptom. For me it was hormone fluctuations, just what was a depression medication going to do for that!?!?!

An herb you can take is St. Johns wort. It is supposed to help with depression. But if you take birth control, it makes it so the birth control won't work. So, use other forms of contraception

Have you ever been medicated for more than 2 months? Medication takes weeks before it is full effective. Try and see what happens. Along with therapy, your life can change dramatically.
