my mom is all for me getting a dog but my dad isn't.... someone give me some tactics to make him crack!! PLEASE 10 points! im deprate

Find out why your dad doesn't want a dog. If it's because he doesn't believe you'll be responsible enough to look after a dog, I'm afraid it's up to you to try and get him to chane his mind. Be responsible! Be patient (I know it's hard).
If it's because he really doesn't like dogs, then I'm afraid it would be very unfair to a dog to bring it into your house and you should wait.
Good luck - I believe kids learn more than most people can imagine from having a dog. Kids learn responsibility, love, a dog is someone they can talk to when they need a shoulder, a dog is someone they can always trust. I hope you can get your dog.

You and your mother should not gang up on your dad and try to convince him to get a dog. I think your father's decision may be based on how old you are and/or how responsible you are. I'm sure he also knows the expenses of owning a dog would be his responsibility (vet bills, shots, boarding the dog for vacations, etc.).
You say you are desperate. For what? Answers to your question or for a dog? Wanting to have a dog is not considered to be a desperate situation and trying to convince your father to let you have a dog is not exactly a desperate situation either.

Dad, if I had a dog I would be safe from weirdoes when I went for a walk in the evening.

ask him "wasn't there one thing you really wanted when you were growing up? i will take care of a dog, and it will make me so happy. don't you want to see me happy?" and then just look really sad..
edit: walkinglady had a good answer.. bring your dad to the computer and show him that. she makes some excellent points...

if you really want this dog, you'll find a way to talk him into it and eventually, he'll love it more than you because guys and dogs are like.....ice cream and cake. they just go together
