study Revelation 17:5 and you'd be conscious of ways God sees the Catholic Church, its enterprise and its fake doctrines. that's with those fake doctrines that each and every person countries are transforming into inebriated. this is motives why God is so feared and hated and avoided. How unhappy! The doctrine that has achieved the main injury is the doctrine of "eternal torment" that's in step with yet another fake doctrine, that of the "immortality" of the soul. that's because of this fake coaching that the church had to invent the purgatory and eternal hell. The intercession of Mary and the saints in behalf of the sinner is likewise in step with this fake doctrine. however the Bible says that "the lifeless be conscious of no longer something" until eventually the resurrection. Ecc.9:6,10; a million Thess.4:14-18. Auricular confession is likewise yet another abomination. Catholics are taught to admit their sins to the catholic priesthood. however the Bible teaches that sins can in hassle-free terms be confessed to Christ by myself who's our intense Priest. etc etc yet there are elementary and truthful souls interior the catholic church even between the priesthood and prelates and earlier probation closes, the Lord is looking them out! "come out of her My human beings."

Let's take a closer look OK?
8 "But you are not to be called 'Rabbi,' for you have only one Master and you are all brothers.
9 And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.
10 Nor are you to be called 'teacher,' for you have one Teacher, the Christ.
11 The greatest among you will be your servant.
12 For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. (Mt. 23:8-10)
According to this, we would offend the scriptures every time we call someone "priest / rabbi", "teacher", or "father". The moral of that passage is not to prevent you from calling someone father, but to realize that no one is better than you, and no one is lesser than you. This is a perfect example how many of us can benefit from the expertise of someone who has dedicated their heart, mind, and soul to educate us about the scriptures. If you want to learn about quantum mechanics, consult a PhD in Physics. If you want to know about the Bible, consult a priest.
Peace!

Because the Catholic faith is messed up... That is how it is. You know what, my grandparents are Catholic and I went to a Catholic funeral service before and it 'didn't' feel right.
(And the sad part is, i kinda liked the weirdness of the whole thing..but another story....)
and the priest has this kid that follows him around and does everything he does and stuff. And they poured oil on things in an odd way that freaked -me- out.
And they kneel, stand, sit, kneel, stand, kneel, recite this things together that they probably don't even understand themselves. They all repeat after the priest guy and he dresses all 'pretty'.
Maybe that is the eerie passion for self flattery that I aws trying to get an answer for in one of my questions ... *sighs*
But my guess is that it is for respect purposes.. but then again the priest is suppose to be like 'special' and don't they have to confess their sins to 'him'???
Anyhow, you are right.
Mavis knows... lmao... Mavis DOES know... this time she/he really does!
"And we know him as our Vicar and by night a part time stripper... and he's making wine from water while he dresses like his daughter and we know he is a rip off 'cause we've seen him with his kit off."
A pleasant lil song by a former Catholic.
Good Day.

I have respect for the catholic church, but I have a problem calling a man “father”. I absolutely understand where you are coming from! I am a proud protestant . I don't pray to mary, and don't call anyone except one man father!

In context, the Scripture reads, "... And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven."
This is call for humility for those in leadership roles. Not to be taken literally.
We are not to deny our male parent and cut the Commandment to honor our father and mother in half.
Some leaders in any church may fall into the same folly as the pharisees of Jesus' day.
With love in Christ.

It's nothing more than a title, a sign of respect. Just as we call nuns "Sister" and monks are sometimes called "Brother." In fact, the formal title for Catholic priests is "Reverned." There is no intention to put the in God's place. (Don't forget, they used to be called by much grander titles, such as "my lord.")
Going by your logic, what do you call the man who impregnated your mother and (hopefully) helped raise you? Do you never refer to him as "your father"?

Dear Country,
Our Priests are called Father because they are our spiritual Fathers (among others). But your question conflicts with other texts of the Bible and of common usage.
Do you refuse to call your own Father, "Father." Or refuse to follow the commandment which says "Honor thy Father and Mother?"

Because they represent God "THE FATHER" and are his representatives here for us. Also, just like most families, the father is the head of the family, and the priest is the head of the church congregation, making him The Father for his church.
