I had the same problem with my cat, it turns out she wasn't getting enough protein in her diet. When you buy your cat's food check the nutritional content. With my cat I had to make sure there was at least 35% protein in it, which meant buying the more expensive foods. As well, she could have an allergy to something. My cat had an allergy to flea bites and would lose her fur where one bit her. Also having your cat fixed will help it put on weight.

Is she losing hair or is she chewing on her legs? My brother's cat eats his fur off. (10 year old cat, he got him as a kitten) The vet said it's due to stress. My brother bought the house maybe 2-3 years ago. The previous owner had a dog. Cat can smell the dog but can't find it. Take her to the vet. Maybe she needs a different type of food from what you're feeding? The vet can help you with this.

I agree with Rachel M. Could be that the diet is poor and if she is over 8 years old a vet can diagnose hyperthyroidism or diabetes, both common conditions of older cats that cause weight loss.
Both are treatable.

Well first how old is the cat. it might have some sort of vitamen problem. also it almost sound like a thyroid problem. when a human has a hyperthyroid problem they loose weight and ther is hair loss . so you might want to calla vet and have him/her checked out before it is to late Good luck.

It sounds like she may have some allergies, to something.... Could be something inside the house.... Could be her food.... You need to take her to the vet and have a few simple blood tests runafor her allergies and see if that may be the problem..... Best of Luck, and get your BABY TO THE VET.......

Take her to her vet. She sounds like she is suffering from malnutrition which could be caused by several factors (NOT that you're not feeding her.) Is she elderly? She could have diabetes, cancer, a gastric blockage... any of these could cause her symptoms. Only your vet can help her.
