Hey if you are discussing this issue with your FRIENDS you don't deserve her. Just shut the hell up and leave her be. After all she just had your baby.

Here's a guy's point of view.
If she just had the baby 6 months ago, do nothing. She may still be trying to lose the extra weight (it comes off slower for some women)
But, if she has begun to get bigger since the baby, ask her if those clothes are comfortable, and then tell her you want to take her shopping for a few outfits (just because you love her). Make more of a fuss about those when she wears them. I am sure she will feel more comfortable in clothes that fit properly.

She had a baby six months ago and you're fussing over what your friend says about her? Give me a break! Or rather, give her a break!
She can't be that much overweight if she can still get those clothes on. And if you're really concerned, how about offering to look after the baby while she goes to the gym to work out, or putting the babe in a stroller and pushing it alongside her while she jogs for a bit?
Never mind what your friends say, just give her all the encouragement you can right now and to help her to get back to her original size.

Tell her you want to take her out to get some clothes and pamper her. Tell her you just feel overwhelmed about how much you apprieciate her just having a baby and you wanted to get out, just you and her. It might be she is wearing her old clothes cos she has no time to buy new ones or because all her focus is on the new baby and all the things they need. If she eyeballs you wondering why you want to take her clothes shopping ( us girls are sharp ones ya know) tell her you just thought she would enjoy it and wanted to make your queen feel special. Try not to say anything about her weight. It took 9 months to put on, give her at least that long to take it off. :)

It's called diplomacy. There's a great scene in 'The Weather Man' where Nick Cage's character buys his obese daughter some fashionable, yet sensible clothes that suit her figure better. Buy your wife something nice and ask her to wear it for you.
In the meantime, both of you could stand to get on track with your diet and exercise. Go out for brisk hour-long walks in the evening together with the baby stroller. Learn to cook healthy foods in sensible portions.

Take her out shopping to the mall or some outlets and help her pick out new clothes. Have her try things on for you and tell her what looks good. This way she will get new clothes that look nice and she will feel good because you are spending time with her and helping her shop.

Get into exercise routine with her and lose some weight. It is good for you. In the meantime, why not go to shop with her, then you can pick out something that fits her size and show it to her and tell her you love it on her.

I would just leave this one alone. It is good she feels good about herself. as long as she isn't like 300 pounds and wearing half shirts and spandex, let her be. You don't want to hurt her feelings as it may depress her and then she may just give up and really let herself go.

Why don't you offer to take her shopping and complement her when she puts on an outfit you like.
By the way, she is probably well aware that she is holding on to some extra weight.

"Check yourself before you Wreck yourself!"
No! Just kidding. Congrats on the child!
However, That is a delicate situation.
And, there really isn't a good answer. Delicately ... very delicately...
