Cars get us from point a to b a lot faster
but heres the catch gas companies make lots of money to fuel cars,
car accidents are more deadly than say a carriage accident, and some drivers are reckless and on a crowded highway its quite dangerous.

actually it is more like a blunt forced object then a double edged sword...i mean accident victims are not sliced into 2 different parts when hit by them (ask any reckless driver)
OK now that i am through trying to be funny it is time to answer the question...yes...you are right..now what...do we stop driving...i can't ride a bike when it is raining...and i don't think i can afford a horses food either. (i eat about 350 dollars of food a month...a horse 10 time the amount i will) (the average horse is 2000 lbs...that is allot of food)

It was once said that the automobile is "one" of the greatest inventions by man. But, man has not yet learned how to use it safely.
The combustion engine was the best method for powering automobiles, at one time. Oil was in ample supply.
When one listens to our Congress, about all the concerns regarding cars, I wonder what kind of quandary the automobile industry must be feeling.
Think about the differing laws on the books, and those being considered.
Increased MPG, relating to gas.
Alcohol powered.
New mixtures for different states.
A new engine, powered by other fuels.
How could any manufacturer spend the money to do one, then another, and yet another?
With all the rhetoric, and that's about all it has been, a decision has to be made on one solution, and just do it. The entire process is in a muddle and indecisive.
Bear in mind also that parts and fuels will have to be maintained for ten years or more in order to service prior models. It would be destructive to suddenly attempt to remove all present automobiles at any given point in time. They have to be phased out.
I really believe that oil will reach $100.00 per barrel. When that happens, sales of new gas fueled cars will die. Then a change will be made, and quickly.

I think you will find it much more expensive to feed a horse in the city for a month than to feed a car. Also, think of the stench and sanitation issues, the cost to stable a horse for your carriage. Not to mention how much your world would shrink. Think how long even a 5 mile ride to work would take.

I agree with the first guy. A sword is a long sharp pointy thing used for dismembering and/or killing other less well-armed people. A car is a device used to transport people and other crap.

Plus insurance prices, prices of the cars (and how quickly they depreciate)... But most people wouldn't trade their car for anything, so go figure!
